Interview with Dinesh who blogs at www.sysprobs.com
This post contains interview with Dinesh who blogs at www.sysprobs.com. Dinesh has been blogging for quite long time and is currently earning about $1500-2000 per month online. This post will be helpful for bloggers struggling with programs like AdSense.
This time I am coming up with an interview with a Srilankan blogger Dinesh who owns two blogs www.sysprobs.com and www.dailyblogmoney.com.
Welcome to Techulator.com. Tell us about yourself and your websites?
Thanks for this chance first of all. I'm Dinesh, a part time blogger who manages two blogs,
www.sysprobs.com
www.dailyblogmoney.com
My full time (8AM to 6PM) job is related to technology and fixing IT issues, so thought start a blog about it, which was Sysprobs.com. After the reasonable success with it in getting traffic and money, then I started my second blog (dailyblogmoney.com) to share my blogging and money making experience. I'm from Sri Lanka and currently living and working in Oman.
Tell us about the beginning of your online journey?
I stared blogging in 2008 with BlogSpot, it was an IT vacancies site. I had no idea about blogging that time. I shared my website to my friends and family to click ads. It never worked, though I was so happy to see some 0.50$ or 0.25$ earnings in adsense report daily. Later, registered an own domain again related to job vacancies in same 2008. That was again flop. That's the point I realized that website/blog and AdSense are not going to work like this or its not easy.
In June 2009, I registered my tech blog and started to build up slowly. I gave enough of time to earn some money from blogging. It started working well from 2010 middle.
Do you manage your websites by yourself?
Yes, I do manage two blogs. It's really a tough job, I have more ideas to implement and publish, but really no time.
How many hours you spend online?
Since I'm a part time blogger, I spend rarely less than 2 hours daily online. I spend most of the time offline at home to prepare guides which needs more time. I don't do much on social networking, promotions and commenting on other blogs.
Tell us about the present statistics for your websites?
I'm working towards reaching 400,000 page views for my tech blog this month, hopefully I will get it. My second blog is very small and targeting regular and subscribed visitors only.
Do you think online business is easier in comparison to offline business?
It depends what you know and what you are going to sell. Still more people out there who do not know online or not ready to pay online to purchase things. I think offline business will be easier to deal with the people near your location, but with online business you can target globally.
If you ask me which one is easier, I would say its offline business. Because you can start it if you have money only, but online business is not like it, you need only very small investment but the whole process will be painful and slow. Once it's established well, then you can sit and watch the money.
Do you think you have achieved you professional goals or do you feel
that still a lots need to be done?
My blogs are not connected to my professional goals. But, defiantly it is connected to financial goal. I'm quite happy with the current financial achievements by blogs, but still lots need to be achieved. Because the online business is having lots of potentialities to make money and you are open for them.
If you had not been blogging than what else you had been doing?
I would be wasting my free time in something else and would be having tough time financially.
What qualities are needed in your opinion to succeed online?
I'm not going to say anything new here; it's all about planning, studying, learning lessons from failures, hardworking, patient and smart working too.
Few more from my experience, do not plan anything big in short term, just give enough of time to grow. If you need money next month, please do not start a blog this month!.
Always concentrate on your goal whatever happens.
What are the blogs that you follow except your own?
Not particularly, I have some tech and blogging blogs in my RSS reader. Dailyblogtips, shoutmeloud, problogger, johnchow, lifehacker are my favorites.
What advice will you give to other budding bloggers?
If you are wanting to make money within six months from the date of domain registered, then you will be disappointed or quit blogging very soon.
Write something really worth to your readers.
Hope you like the interview and if you have any queries post it as a response below.
