After Vivo launched their slimmest smartphone X5 Max in the market, there has been a lot of hype about the product. Display comparison


Vivo X5 Max: Vivo X5 Max features a super AMOLED 5.5 inches display which supports HD resolutions of up to 1920 X 1080 pixels. It comes with a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch. As usual, it has a multi-touch display, embedded with light sensor and proximity sensor. We calculated the Vivo X5 Max's screen to body ratio and it was found to be 69.5%, which is pretty good but not that much handsome as expected.

LG G3: LG G3 comes with an IPS LCD 5.5 inches display which supports an incredible resolution of 2560 X 1440 pixels. This is much larger than its rival Vivo X5 Max. With a pixel density of 538 pixels per inch, it features a way lot clear display than Vivo X5 Max. And like Vivo, it also has multi-touch display which is also embedded with light sensor and proximity sensor. And with a 75.2% screen to body ratio, LG G3 is much more handsome than the former.

Camera comparison


Vivo X5 Max: Vivo X5 Max comes with a 13 MP rear camera which features LED flash for crispy shots. And as expected from an expensive device, Vivo X5 Max comes with several cam-features such as Autofocus, Touch to focus, Face detection, Burst mode, Geo tagging, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR), Panorama and obviously night mode. Moreover, with Vivo X5 Max, you can record 1080p (1920 X 1080 resolution) HD videos with a stable 30 fps (frames per second). The 5 MP front camera is enough for clear selfies and voice calling.

LG G3: LG G3 also features a 13 MP rear camera but unlike Vivo X5 Max, it comes with Dual LED flash which takes 10% more clear shots than the former single LED one (difference is visible only in low light conditions). LG G3 is embedded with a variety of cam-features like Back-illuminated sensor (BSI), Autofocus, Touch to focus, Optical image stabilization, Face detection, Smile detection, ISO control, Burst mode, Geo tagging, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR), Panorama and voice activation. In other words, LG G3 offers more camera features as compared to the rival Vivo X5 Max. With LG G3, you can even record 4k HD videos with resolutions of up to 3840 X 2160. However, unlike Vivo X5 Max, it only features a 2.1 MP front camera. So, if you are a selfie guru, then G3 is not a good choice for you.

Winner: Although Vivo bangs LG in terms of the front camera but considering the overall camera features, our experts' team declared LG G3 to be a narrow winner.

Hardware and Battery comparison

Vivo X5 Max: Vivo X5 Max features a 1.7 GHz Quad-core processor which is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 system chip. It also comes with an in-built Adreno 405 GPU to support all the graphic hungry applications. Moreover, it is embedded with 2 GB RAM for a better performance output. It comes with a 16 GB internal storage and supports microSD, microSDXC and microSDHC cards of up to 128 GB! In terms of battery, it is embedded with 2000 mAh Li-ion battery which can easily support talk time of up to 16 hours and provides an approx standby time of 500 hours.

LG G3: LG G3 features an incredible 2.5 GHz Quad-core processor which is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 system chip and delivers devastating performance with every app and does not even hangs while multi-tasking with it. Like Vivo, it also comes with a GPU, however it features an older version of it, Adreno 330. The processor is paired up with 2 GB RAM to give smooth performance. It comes with 32 GB internal storage and supports microSD, microSDXC and microSDHC cards of up to 128 GB! In terms of battery, it comes with 3000 mAh Li-ion battery which can provide talk time of up to 19 hours and can easily provide a standby time of 532 hours.

Winner: Considering the above mentioned features, LG G3 is a clear winner in the race for best hardware and battery backup.

OS, Multimedia & Audio comparison


Vivo X5 Max comes with Android Kitkat v4.4.4 while LG G3 is fueled by Android Kitkat v4.4.2. Both the smartphones supports h.264, mp4 and wmv video playbacks and can easily play 1080p HD videos. Both of them comes with Bluetooth v4.0 and USB v2.0 support. In terms of sensors, Vivo X5 Max features Accelerometer, Compass, GPS, A-GPS, Gyroscope and Proximity Sensor. While on the other hand, LG G3 comes with Accelerometer, Compass, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Gyroscope, Ambient Light Sensor and Proximity Sensor. Both the smartphones comes with 3.5 mm audio jack and features advanced noise cancellation technologies.

Winner: Almost same features, no winner is decided in the above category.

Expert's Verdict


After carefully examining all the features and their respective price, it is very clear that LG G3 beats Vivo X5 Max in almost every aspect whether it be display, hardware, software or battery backup, But we must keep in mind that Vivo X5 Max is available for about Rs.8k less than the former. So, if you plan to buy Vivo X5 Max then that will not be a bad choice at all. The X5 Max provides a good value for money and is also slimmest out there.
