Complaints about Snapdeal: Displaying wrong price for products
Snapdeal, one of the largest online market place is currently running various offers for Diwali on all the products. On 18th of Oct 14, at around 17:00 hrs, it started displaying an offer for Dell Venue 7, 16 GB with 3G tab which was showing a "before price" of 10990 and an "offer price" of 11899. It lasted for 1 hour and after 1 hour when I have searched for Dell Venue 7, it was showing a price of 9199 Rs. Is Snapdeal cheating on customers by placing faulty offers?
After the Flipkart's big billion day which made an attempt to highly hit its e-sales by offering an extraordinary discounts on few products on 6th of October this year, many top online marketing sites like Snapdeal, ebay & Amazon have continued running offers to attract people to buy its products online. Snapdeal is running its various offers on the occasion of Diwali. One type of offer is the "Limited Offers" which runs discounts for few products for a very limited time. Even the stocks are also limited. I have been observing Snapdeal very closely since it was regularly giving very good offers. Actually, I regularly buy products from Snapdeal and it is one of my favourite online shopping site.
On Saturday, 18th October 2014, at around 1700 hrs, I was in a mood of buying a gift online. So I opened Snapdeal site and to my surprise I found it displaying a wrong offer for Dell Venue 7, 16 GB with 3G in its homepage. It was showing an MRP of 10,900 & an offer price of Rs 11,899. I felt confused for a minute and checked it thoroughly. I quickly opened Flipkart & ebay and checked the price of Dell Venue 7 tab and found it to be under 11000. Then I realised that may be Snapdeal might have displayed it wrong, its offer price & original price might have been interchanged. But even though it is a silly mistake committed by Snapdeal, it would definitely have a negative effect on its fame. I thought that Snapdeal would check and rectify its mistake, but it lasted for 1 hour. At around 1800 hrs, the offer was replaced by a new one. It was the hourly offer which lasted from 1700 hrs to 1800 hrs. It happens many times, even the top websites commit such mistakes. But what was more surprising is that it lasted for 1 hour. I don't know why the Snapdeal website editor has not checked and rectified it.
Dell Venue 7 tab Android tablet comes with Intel® Atom™ processor Z2560 (up to 1.6GHz Dual-Core), Android 4.2 operating system, 7.0 inch IPS Display with HD and has a resolution of 1280 x 800 P , 3G, Dual camera, 16 GB internal memory & 2 GB of RAM. It is available at an online price of 10499 Rs on Flipkart and at a price of 9,859 on ebay.
To my surprise, after 1800 hrs, when I have searched for Dell Venue 7, 16 GB with 3G on Snapdeal, it was displaying a price of 9199. It was really shocking, irritating & annoying. Is the Snapdeal cheating on customers with faulty offers to increase its sales?
It is really necessary to realize that many of the offers offered by online e-retailers are faulty. I request people not to get carried away by the online offers. Check & validate it before you buy. Hope this post would help you.
