How to create bootable USB to install Windows 10


Do you like to install Windows 10 from a USB device? Learn how to make a bootable USB device to install Windows 10 on your laptop or desktop.

If you want to make a bootable USB device and install Windows 10 from it, you need to follow the steps below:

1. Download Windows 10 ISO files from Microsoft official website.

2. Download and install Windows 7 USB download tool. As of now, Microsoft hasn't offered a tool specifically to create Windows 10 bootable USB device but the Windows 7 tool will work perfectly.

3. Make a bootable USB device for Windows 10 using the "Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool".

4. Insert the USB device into the computer on which you want to experiment with Windows 10.

5. Boot your computer from the USB drive and you will be prompted to install Windows 10 from your USB device. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Steps to create bootable USB device


Insert your USB device on to your primary computer (not the computer on which you want to install Windows 10). Then launch the Windows 7 USB Tool and follow the steps below:

Step 1: Select the Windows 10 ISO image, which you download from Microsoft website.

Step 2: In the next step, select "USB device" option since we are going to install Windows 10 from USB device.

Step 3: Select the correct USB device. Remember that all the content in the USB device will be erased and will be formatted to make it a bootable device.

Step 4: You will see a warning that all the content will be erased. Choose the button "Erase USB Device".

Step 5: Accept the next warning as well and proceed.

Step 6: In this step, the ISO image will be copied to the USB device and it will be formatted to use as a bootable device.

Step 7: You will see the final confirmation that the USB device is ready.

Now you can go this USB device using your Explorer and double click on the Setup.exe to start Windows 10 installation. Alternatively, you can change your boot sequence to boot from USB and restart your computer when the flash drive is inserted to the computer. While booting, you will be prompted to start the installation.
