Interview of Mr.Abhijeet Mukherjee- Founder of GuidingTech.com
In this post we interview Mr.Abhijeet Mukherjee, founder of a very popular tech blog GuidingTech.com. Read it to know his opinion and ideas related to online business and blogging.
You are a very famous blogger. Still as a part of formality, can you please introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Abhijeet Mukherjee and currently run Guiding Tech, a popular tech tips and how-to blog. I have been self-employed since early 2008. Previously I have written for some top blogs. I have also dabbled around with various online businesses over the years. I used to be a Digg power user during the early days of social media.
When did you start your first blog? How many blogs and websites do you currently operate?
I started with a personal blog in early 2008. Right now, Guiding Tech is the only website that I operate.
If you don't mind can you please give our readers a brief idea about how much revenue or money you make online every month? Does all of it come from your blogs or you are doing some other online business?
The blog generates revenue of a few thousand dollars each month.
How did you come to know about blogging in your early years?
I read an article in a newspaper which was an interview of Hotmail cofounder Sabeer Bhatia, and the word 'blog' featured in that somewhere. That piqued my curiosity and that's how I came to know about blogging.
Are you a full time blogger or a part time blogger?
I don't write these days (only edit and manage) so not sure if the term blogger will suit me anymore. But yes, I do this full time.
Please specify the background of the niche you are blogging on? What prompted you to start a blog on this niche?
Tech niche. Because this is what I knew.
Which methods do you use to monetize your blogs and websites?
AdSense and banner ads.
You are also selling an eBook "The Ultimate Chrome Productivity Guide". How has been the response to it? Are more planning to launch some more eBooks?
The response has been good. Yes, planning to launch more. There's one on VLC already, which your readers can download for free or pay if they like - http://www.guidingtech.com/landing/vlc-ebook/
Which are the websites that you follow regularly?
No particular website to be honest. But I do track Techmeme for news.
What schedule do you follow daily to maintain and manage your online blogs? On an average how many hours do you spend daily on your blogs?
I wish I could stay I stick to a routine, something I have been trying unsuccessfully for a long time. Also, never really tracked how many hours I spend each day on this. But I am a lazy guy, so it isn't a lot.
Do you have any role models or mentors? If yes, please tell something about them.
No role models in particular, but the blogs of Amit Agrawal and Darren Rowse have helped me get started with blogging and I learned a lot from them when I started on this journey.
What do you think about the future of blogging? Do you think it will continue to be a profitable business in the long run?
If you can create a loyal audience, it will always be profitable. A blog is just a medium; it's all about what you want to say and how you say it that bring the people.
Many bloggers are trying their hand at niche blogging by starting micro niche sites? Have you started any of them? How was your experience?
I did. I created some for selling ClickBank products. But I found the products to be so bad that I decided to shut the sites down, because I couldn't bring myself to sell them.
Many new bloggers are finding it very difficult to get an approved AdSense account. What would be your advice to such people?
I suppose they should try to reach a certain traffic level before applying for an AdSense account. Also, make sure they know the important points about their TOS and that their content adheres to them.
What are your future plans? Are you planning to start any new ventures or blogs?
There are some plans in the offing, but too early to disclose.
Would like to give any advice to our readers?
Keep calm and carry on. Patience pays off.
Thanks a lot for spending your valuable time in answering all the questions. I wish you all the best for all your future ventures.
