Epson holds its position as No. 1 in India for the second time

According to latest CyberMedia Research (CMR) Epson has grown its share both in volume and value by 2% from H1 FY 2013-14 and has again won the No. 1 position as top projector brand in India. In the 1st half of the fiscal year Epson owned 23% of the total volume market share and 27% of the value market share. Whereas it's closest rival possessed just 15% of the value market share in the same period. The stats were slightly different for the full year period, as Epson has a market share of 21.7% by volume and 26.1% by value in FY 2013-14.

According to Futuresource Consulting reports, Epson is also the top leading worldwide brand in projectors. They possessed a volume market share of 28.4% in FY 2013.

As per the CMR report total 198,226 units of projectors selling was recorded by India digital projector market in FY 2013-14. 95% of these projectors were of only 13 brands. In this high crowded market Epson managed to improve their volume market share from 13.2% to 23% in just two years. Though the market encountered a de-growth in H2 FY 2013-14 due to uncertainty in the markets, the education segment remained the key demand driver. Home theatres contributed about 3% of the total projector sales as per the CMR report.

Future Strategy:

Epson India has shed a light on their future strategies in Indian markets. Their main priorities will be Enterprise, Education and Home segments in the upcoming year 2014-15. Epson said they improved the functionality and efficiency of the projectors with more thin and lightweight form factor, improved portability etc for business meetings. Now they will offer more ease of use to users with new features like automatic screen adjustment. And everything comes at affordable price range. Surely it will make them attractive towards the corporate sectors.

As now-a-days more and more universities demand projectors for enhanced method of study and teaching, Epson has already focused on the education segment. Epson said their motto is to make products that will make it 'easy-to-understand' and 'easy-to-teach'. They have introduced certain proprietary Epson functionality for that, e.g. short throw and interactive projectors.

Epson claims that their 3LCD projectors give upto 3 times brighter image than similar products of different rival companies and this is also another key to their success and increasing popularity. For home segments they mainly focus on high contrast and excellent image quality in the home theatre projectors to offer maximum entertainment in viewing experience to movie and sports enthusiasts. The 3D HD projectors are increasingly being popular in home theatre projectors as an integral component; they have already focused on this matter.

Here the direct quote of Mr. Samba Moorthy, the Director of Sales & Marketing of Epson India would be pertinent. On hearing the news, he said "We have been going from strength to strength in the Indian market. We are by far the biggest projector brand in India now, just as we are in the rest of the world. With projectors that offer superior Colour Brightness and with a fantastic range of projectors for corporates, educational institutions and for home we expect to continue to drive rapid growth in this market in the years to come."

Epson also claims, besides projectors they offer many other varieties of products; and in most of them they are also either No. 1 or No. 2, and growing fast.
