Xiaomi India Launch Event/Bloggers Meet, New Delhi 2014
Techulator.com was invited to attend the Xiaomi launch event/bloggers meet that was held today at The Lodhi Hotel, New Delhi. Here are some of the highlights of the event.
Xiaomi, also known as the "Apple of China" is a mobile device manufacturer that recently entered the Indian market with the launch of its flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi3. Techulator.com was sent an invite by their PR department to cover their launch event and I covered the entire launch/bloggers event at The Lodhi Hotel, New Delhi.
Xiaomi in association with Flipkart India, opened pre-registrations for the Mi3 today, deliveries for which will begin from July 22nd 2014. They have also promised to make the following devices available by August 2014:
- Redmi 1S
- Redmi Note
- Mi pad
Upon entering the conference hall, a range of Xiaomi products were displayed on the table. Bloggers and other invitees experienced them first hand by using each one of them. Along with the electronic gadgets, they also had back panels, headphones and covers for all their smartphones showing the level of customizations they plan to offer.

This launch event was attended by Xiaomi's co-founder and President, Mr. Bin Lin along with Mr. Hugo Barra, Vice President, Global. Personally, I enjoyed Mr. Hugo Barra's presentation on the Mi3 and how Xiaomi plans to introduce new products and technology in the Indian market. Being a geek myself, I was amazed at the minute yet meticulous customizations MIUI (their UI) offers on their product range. I've used a ported version of MIUI on my rooted Samsung Galaxy smartphone, but was not able to detect all these features that Mr. Barra displayed. It shows the extreme hard work and the responsive nature of Xiaomi towards their consumer needs. We've requested Xiaomi India to send us a review unit in order to share these great features and customizations with all our readers, so don't forget to subscribe and stay tuned to our YouTube channel for a video review of the same.
According to their senior officials, Xiaomi already has set up 35+ service centers in 20 top Indian cities, with more to come up pretty soon. Two of these service centers are exclusive Mi service centers in New Delhi and Bangalore. To cater to the service needs of the Indian consumers, they've introduced a hotline that will work 7 days a week and have also set up a responsive Facebook page.
