Gionee Smartphones, the leading global designer & manufacturer of mobile devices announced the much awaited update for its Elife S5.5 smartphones on July 3, 2014. Gionee S5.5, the world's slimmest smartphone (5.5mm) is now getting updated to Android KitKat 4.4.2, skipping the earlier Android 4.3 version.
The phone was unveiled in March this year for the Indian market after which it went on sale in early May. It is a single-SIM smartphone with an excellent 5-inch Super AMOLED (1080x1920 pixels) display having pixel density of 441ppi and an excellent performance delivered by 1.7GHz octa-core CPU coupled with 2GB RAM. Other major specifications include 16GB inbuilt storage, 13-megapixel rear shooter camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel front camera and 2300mAh battery. It is available for Rs. 22,999 in market.
