Are you looking for video games to recreate the FIFA World Cup 2014 action? Read this article to know the best games available, their prices and availability.
The world is going crazy after FIFA and if you want to recreate the World Cup action, we bring to you top seven games that you can download and enjoy. A smart phone or tablet can't replicate that feeling of watching a real game but these games look very realistic and are quite involving too. Let's take a look at each of them.EA Sports FIFA 14
EA has recently released an update of FIFA 14 which is more tactical to play. The mobile version has all the World Cup related updates and interesting commentary options. It comes with 203 national teams, 20 new stadiums, shots of cheering crowds going crazing in pubs & stadiums, new outfits and official match ball 'Brazuca'. The graphics are excellent and the official teams, players' names & jerseys add realism to the overall experience. There are new modes which give users a lot of choice. The matches can be re-created and loses in Brazil can be turned to victories. Thus, you can rewrite history. The only drawback is that the touch controls may feel a little uncomfortable to some users when playing the game.
Price & availability
The app is free to download and is available for Android, iOS, Windows Phone & Blackberry 10. It is a 1GB-pus file but all the content is not accessible. To enjoy the full game, get the premium unlock which costs Rs. 300.
Dream League Soccer 2014
When it comes to graphics, the Soccer is not as good looking as FIFA 14 but it comes with multiplayer mode which means that you can play this game with your family & friends. It can be played over internet as well as ad hoc Wi-Fi connections. The game play is very simple. The user is required to develop a team and play across four leagues. Controls are limited to only three buttons so complexity is considerably reduced. The movement feels limiting at some points but it is smoother when playing on a touch screen.
Price & availability
The game is free to download and is available for Android and iOS. The file is less than 150MB so downloading the full content on any smart phone is not a problem.
Football Manager Handheld 2014
Sega has recently released the new version of Football Manager Handheld. Its long list of features allow you to create a club from scratch, build a squad with your family or friends and recreate classic teams. The graphics are good. The highlights come with a 2D view and full-on commentary. The game play is basic as not much tactics are required but overall, it is interesting. Its post-match conferences are the most interesting part. It really tests your leadership skills in the process of hiring, preparing and leading the team to the World Cup championship. In the Home Menu, the leadership level displayed and the overall confidence in the user's team are displayed which are very motivating.
Price & availability
The game is available on App Store and Google Play for Rs. 620. In its desktop avatar, the game is inaccessible to most people and the mobile phone experience is relatively stripped down. Real Football
This game is made by Gameloft and offers incredible graphics. In all ways, it depicts a modern football game. What impresses is the unique team management which I have not seen in most sports games and the whole sequence keeps you occupied till the end. Here, I would also add that the team management appears a little more focused on monetization than fun. You have to hire & train players, coach & staff so that the team reaches the top division of European as well as World football. You can custom design your team's kits, develop the facilities and create franchises. The look is interesting but the game play is relatively average. The difficulty level of the game is basic but the cumbersome & inaccurate touch controls make playing it a bit difficult.
Price & availability
The app is free to download and is available on App Store, Google Play & BlackBerry World.
Pixel Cup Soccer
This game not only looks but also feels like a classic arcade game from 1990s. If like me, you grew up playing games in video arcade, you would definitely enjoy this one. The graphics are superb. The pixels are blocky and the controls are limited to just two buttons & one virtual stick. The game play is also simple as there is no team management. Anybody from any age group can play this game easily. If you have played football games before on old Sega consoles, the Soccer would feel very familiar. More than one user can play the game on same iPad.
Price & availability
The game is available for iOS only and it costs Rs. 120.
Fluid Football
This game is a little different from others when it comes to controls. There is no virtual stick and the user gets a top down view of the stadium. To control the players and the path they follow, you will have to tap on the pause option to stop the on-going action. You can call it a tactical game. The graphics are average but the game keeps you occupied. The player plans the kicks or passes and gets real time 3D view of precision goal shots. There are six trophies to be won- the Youth Cup, Local Trophy, 3rd Division, 2nd Division, 1st Division and Andy Gray Trophy.
Price & availability
The game is available for Android & iOS and it is absolutely free.
Flick Kick Football
This game is my favourite in the list. Also my friends who are not even football fans enjoyed this game tremendously. You require only gestures and no virtual buttons to play it. It plays to the strengths of its platform and focuses mainly on taking free kicks & penalty shots. I have seen no other football game that focuses entirely on these two actions. The only drawback is that the graphics are not as good or realistic as in other football games.
Price & availability
The game is available on App Store and Google Play for Rs. 60.
