Apowersoft Free Screen Capture- In depth Review
Tired of the old and limited Print Screen function of your keyboard and looking for something with much more features and that is free too? Apowersoft is a light and easy to use software that lets you capture anything that goes on your screen till where your mouse pointer goes. It has a video recording software on the same lines too but here we will be discussing only the screen capture freeware from Apowersoft.
Features
Capture screen anywhere on a computer screen: There are set ups for all famous platforms including Windows, Mac, Surface Pro etc. It not only captures images but immediately after the capture provides you with some cool tools to do any editing in the image like adding blur, arrows etc. which we discuss in the next paragraph. It allows you to capture any webpage in its whole by using its online service; with the software application however it is not possible to capture a whole web page or a scrolling window (the feature will be included in its July, 2014 update). There is a limitation to the online screenshot service at screenshot.net too- When using its online service it does not use your browser to capture the screen, but its own server. This means that when you enter the URL www.facebook.com in its online interface you would get a screenshot of the login screen and not the screenshot of the Facebook page open in your browser.
Cool image editing tools: As soon as you take the screenshot, you are presented with options to edit the image whether you are using the online service or the offline application. In case of the online service your image is edited using the services of pixlr.com and in case of the offline application the image editing capabilities are of the software itself. The first set of features are to add objects like arrows, rectangle or text with which you can make the image self explanatory or whatever you feel like. The other set of features are to help you blur or sharpen some or the whole area of the image, retake the image, share it someone using email or upload it on the cloud.
Cloud space to store your screenshots: As I told you about the cloud storage feature in the end of the previous paragraph, screenshot.net offers you 1 GB of free space to store your screenshots online along with a password protection (optional). You can then even generate a link to share it on blogs or social networks.
Different capture modes: It has a few default capture modes which it tries to guess when you move around the mouse. For example take the cursor to the bottom and it will focus on the taskbar, keep it in middle and it will focus on the active application window content excluding the software Windows features (that is cool!), take it to any other location and you will have the complete screen in focus except the task bar and for full screen you have to click the Full Screen button after selecting any of the area.
Scheduler
This is a hard to find feature in any desktop software for that matter leave alone a screen capturing one. You can set the area you want to capture and then schedule the Apowersoft Screen Capture software to take screen shots of that area periodically. This way you can keep track of any changes happening on your desktop even when you are away.Wrap up
We found the software to be highly reliable and useful in capturing screenshots in high quality images. The Windows print screen captures poor quality images which don't look good when using it online or for any professional purpose whatsoever and then you have the problem of cropping out the right part from the image too. Add to that using other softwares to add markers in the image or edit it in some way. Screenshot.net and their software application takes care of these chores and makes the task quite smooth and easy for us. Definitely a suggested software for screen capture whether or not you are tired of the old Print Screen function because you soon will be ;) We weren't able to capture the whole webpage using the software application and that will be a worthwhile area for the developers to look into as soon as possible.

Cons: Online screen capturing is not possible for windows behind a logic screen, Offline software can't capture a full webpage or a scrolling windows (update expected)
