How to display or hide Google+ profile view counts?

Are you a regular user of social networking sites like Google+, Facebook and Twitter? Do you know the major difference between Google+ and the remaining social networking platforms? Want to know about Google+ view counter? Please read further to know relevant features of Google+ in comparison to Facebook, Twitter, etc. and how users can disable view counts on their Google+ public profile.

It was touted as the biggest thing for social media when it released & slowly became one of the biggest influences for Search engine optimisation. Google plus has definitely got a lot of people active on Google's social networking platform and they have done so with the help of some stand out features. Social media marketing on Google+ was one of the biggest positives and Google has managed to build on that quite well. From the interface to the sharing process, it does keep a strand different. The new stream keeps you very active and helps you to scan through more posts at a given time. Hence, the convenience factor is high on Google+. You can swift through multiple columns for photos and videos and this makes it quite easy to use. Keep in mind that these changes were here at the same time Facebook decided to shift things to a single timeline set up too.

Probably picking up the cue from Twitter, relevant hashtags are a huge hit on Google plus. Again, this makes the entire experience a lot quicker and accessible. Trending topics being displayed on the stream also keeps the relevance factor high. In a bid to make it very easy for a user to pick up the best photos you have and use them. Images which are blurry or which are low in quality can be edited right there to avoid the need of any external tool. Somehow, this feature keeps it as stand alone as can be. You do not have to link up with any other application or tool to get your pictures right. None of the other social media majors have been able to tie up with this yet.

There's been one stark difference between Google+ and all the other social media platforms though and one of them is when you look at someone's profile, you get to know the total number of views generated. The Google+ view counter helps you do this. Two things that you need to keep note of here, they won't be real time and the numbers won't be exact either. Now, a lot of us don't want to share the number of Google + profile views, photos and so on. In this case, disabling the public profile view counts is quite easy.

Steps to hide Google+ profile view counts

  1. Log in to your Google+ account on a desktop (not on iOS or Android for now).

  2. Click on the home button placed on the top left corner of your screen.

  3. Choose the settings option and then scroll down to the profile section.

  4. There would be an option called 'Show how many times your profile and content have been viewed'. Uncheck this.

  5. Any time you would want to enable people to see your views, just check the box! It's as simple as that!

The count does provide one with an idea about his / her popularity on this wonderful social networking site from Google. Thus, similar to one of the oldest social networking sites "Orkut", Google+ also allows its users to display or hide the number of profile views in public based on their comfort levels. The choice makes Google+ a complete social networking platform allowing users to be as social as they want to be.
