Read the review of one of the best watermarking software both for online and offline use. Know the features of PicMarkr Pro and see how it can help you protect your intellectual property from theft in the online world.
Any reputed blog owner or writer knows how much hardwork goes into when you write or review something by yourself. Researching content and taking screenshots or photographs, if it is some hardware, is a skill you have to get by practice. When we review something or go into some Tech Meet Up we take a lot of screenshots and photographs respectively and we do feel a sense of possessiveness over that work. So you can understand how bad we would feel if someone uses our work without even telling or crediting us for their own profit! To overcome this issue many of the blog owners including us use watermark on our images.Online PicMarkr watermark
For this purpose, since a long time I have been using an online service which watermarks images. The service is Picmarkr.com. It offers you an easy to use service by which you can upload 5 images at once with the total file size not exceeding 25 Mb. After that you go to the next page where you put an Image watermark, Text watermark or a Tiled Watermark. Just put in the text or image and decide the location of the watermark and in the third step you get your watermarked images. I have been using this service from a long time and it really saves me a lot of time as well as money.
With PicMarkr online version you can also import your images from Facebook and Flickr and apply watermark on them. That does save you a lot of work as everything happens online.PicMarkr Pro watermark software
Today I decided to try out its paid software for Windows which comes at a price of $39.99. Just like the online version, I found the Windows software version of PicMarkr to be a great tool for watermarking.Features of PicMarkr Pro
Import/Edit images
In this screen you select the image files from your hard drive or from Flickr. You can select unlimited number of files from both the sources. Once the pictures are imported you can start applying watermarks on them or saving them to the hard drive. In the same screen you also have the option to Resize the images or change their orientation by rotating them clockwise or counterclockwise. However, you can rotate them only by 90 degrees in either directions. The Resize feature is one step ahead of its other competitors in watermarking softwares by including some defaults for sizing like the suitable size for use on Blog, Forums or Emails.
Adding watermarks
This is the page where you get all the tools for watermarking purposes. First of all choose how your watermark is going to look like- is it going to be Text (your blog name, time stamp or your name), Image (your blog's logo or your own logo) or in the form of a Tile?
After that you decide the level of opacity, size and orientation of the watermark. You can save these settings as templates to automate the process of protecting your images. You can do batch conversion of images with the same watermark or you can even add multiple watermarks on the same image.
Saving images
On the last screen you can save the images to your hard drive or you can upload them to Flickr. If you have a pro account on Flickr then you can even replace the original images with the watermarked images. One can edit the Title, meta Description and add tags to the image which will be used on Flickr.Wrap up
PicMarkr is one of the best services I have found online or as a Windows software. It takes care of all your watermarking needs at a professional level. With solid Flickr integration, you can easily build an online portfolio as a professional photographer without the fear of digital theft.
Pros: Light weight installation and working. Has solid Flickr integration and can handle your offline or online watermarking work with a number of useful features.
Cons: Does not offer the capability to rotate the watermark in a custom angle.
Ratings: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
