Chapter 7: The Hidden City Walkthrough
After going through Thief chapter 6 walkthrough, let's move onto the next chapter. The first objective of chapter 7 is to get inside the cathedral. There are two ways by which you can get inside it. First one is to pick lock of the door leading to the cathedral. And another way is to get inside without lock-picking. For doing this, stay on the left side of the map to see an ascending ramp. You can only access this ramp while crouched. So, walk on this while crouched and get to its end. When the ramp will end, climb the wall which is in front of you.
After climbing, you will be inside the cathedral. Here, you have to distract the guard which is near to the scaffolding. After distracting him, go to the scaffolding. Use this scaffolding to get to the interior of the cathedral. Once you are inside, guards will stop chasing you if any of them were chasing you before. Here, you have to ring the bell in the room to open a metal door. When you will ring the bell, immediately hide yourself on the top of the boxes which are on the right side of the door. You should do this because when this door will open; there will be two guards in front of the door. Wait until these guards move away. Now, go inside this metal door and take the right turn. Stay on this path until you reach a level to call a supply elevator. Switch on the lever and hide yourself in the hiding space which is situated just next to the elevator shaft. Several guards will come here to inspect the person who had switched on the supply elevator.
When the elevator will come, access it. Here, elevator will break, so when this happens you have to jump and attach your claw to the blue grates. Now reach to the bottom by attaching your claw to different attachments. When you will reach to the bottom, stay alert and watch out for traps. After some time, there will be three guards which will block your way. You can easily take them out as they are not on alert. After taking them out, continue your ascending path. Soon, you will be in an area with mutated humans. Simply pass them by moving slowly and quietly. Stay on the left side while moving here. You will see a ledge which you have to climb. Climb it and then turn the dial here to open the gate. Remember mutated humans will not get alert by the sound of the gate. Now, get inside this gate and then go to the stairs.
Here, you will encounter a flame from a pipe. Just wait for the flame to stop and then continue to go up on the stairs. Now take left and you will see a dial here. Turn off this dial to turn off the gas. Now, you have to just climb up with the help of your claw. I enjoyed this part of the chapter a lot and I know you are also going to enjoy it. Do not stop climbing until you see two guards. Just stay wherever you are and wait for them to go away. One of these guards will move to the left side. You must follow this guard and hide yourself in the space to the guard's left. You should do this because soon this guard will turn around. 
Here you will find another dial, interact with it to open the door. This door will lead you to the next area, "The Rotunda". Move towards the guards but do not get too close to them. When you are a few meters away from these guards, move towards your right and access the stairs. After exiting these stairs, you will see a couple of guards near the scaffolding. Just stay hidden and wait until they go away. Now, go towards the scaffolding and climb the boxes near it and then climb the scaffolding. After this, jump to the rope and then after climbing a few more meters jump on the right. Now, move along this wall and then search for another dial. Turn this dial to open another heavy door. Soon, you will reach to the ceremony.
Collect the stone fragment here and then meet with the Orion at the center of the ceremony. At this time, General will spot you and you will be in a boss fight with the general. But unfortunately, here you do not have to fight with him and instead you have to escape from here. You have to first turn the two dials and then pick the lock of the door to open it so that you can escape. One dial is situated to the opposite end of the room and another dial is situated to the right where the boss fight starts. And also you must extinguish these flames near to the exit door and one which is near to another dial. This will ensure you a great advantage while turning the dials and lock picking the door. Extinguish these two flames using your water arrow. If you don't have a water arrow then you can find one on the top of the boxes. If you only have one water arrow then it's better to use it to extinguish the flame near to the exit door.
Now turn the dial near to the exit door in darkness. And for turning the dial near to the General in light, just wait for the general to show his back to you and then turn this dial. After you have turned both of them, you will have to pick lock of the door. But it is very easy to do so as you have already darkened this area. So, take your time while lock-picking as you will not get spotted.
