Soon a day will come, we could charge our smartphones even when it is 5 metre away from the power source. What? Could not digest what I said, right? Well, these are not my words, it's the remarks of a research team of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea. The research team of the institute claims that they have developed a wireless power transfer technology that can charge forty smartphones at the same time from a distance of five metre apart.
According to Chun T Rim, a professor of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, the technology behind the wireless charging is Dipole Coil Resonant System (DCRS). The Dipole Coil Resonant System is built by compact ferrite core rods making winding inside of it. When high frequency AC current is passed through the primary windings, it produces magnetic field. The changing magnetic field induces voltage in the secondary windings leading to the generation of inductive power. He also added, this technology is not only limited to charging devices, it can also power up LED TVs, fans etc.
Wireless charging technology is not a new thing in today's world. But from such a distance, it's never been tried. So it's going to be a new revolution of wireless charging in near future. Unlike wifi zone, there would be charging zone in public places like restaurants, hotels etc. We would be free from that wired charger that we always have to kept with us.
