4 games that were nothing like they promised
Some games just can't get it right no matter how many times developers assure us that everything is right and the game will indeed be fine. So join me as I look int top 4 games that ended up being different than what was initially promised.
Introduction
Some games turn out to be more than what we expect from them. They exceed our expectations. Take GTA V for an example; this game is epitome of perfection. This is how you should do a game. Well, the exuding quality and exuberance of the game is not really surprising considering its Rockstar who was behind this game.
On the other hand, some games turn out be major disappointments despite all the promise these developers make to us. The amazing dazzling trailers and gameplays are just dubious. When the actual game arrives, it turns out that whatever we were shown was just a hoax. I can't even count how many times this has happened, but the least I could do is warn you to be wary of the scam going on here. Without further ado, let's take a look at some of the games that turned out to be something else than what we were promised initially. Some of them turned to be better than promised though. So, this list doesn't necessarily comprise of bad games; there are some good ones like Far Cry 3 ere too. Let's take a look - Far Cry 3
Remember Far Cry 3? Well, most hardcore gamers like me do remember this game for sure for all the awesome and unprecedented sprawling lush jungles of the Rukiat Island. Wasn't it a pretty site to behold? It was really amazing. Not only the gameplay was flawless and bug-free, the whole story was compelling to keep you hooked for more than 7 hours of campaign. In fact, the game world takes longer to finish if you'd start doing all the side quests too.
For all its awesomeness, though, the game turned out to be completely different than what we were showcased back in E3 2012. It was supposed to be a survival horror game – a story about how Jason and his friend were trapped in an island and how they survived there.
But when it actually neared its launch, it was pretty overt that they are heading for more action oriented game instead of a survival horror. While, it turned out to be really amazing game, the fact of the matter is, they lied to us about the game. It was supposed to be a survival horror game with some element of first-person shooting. Instead, the latter part was the most dominant part here. Bioshock Infinite
Again, this is an amazing game. And I am saying this without any strings attached to it. It was really an honor to be able to play this game and immerse myself in the city of Columba. The art direct was simply unprecedented where everything had a meaning. From the blissful kids, to mourning bagger, everything about the city is just amazing!
But do you know that it was supposed to take place elsewhere? Yes, initially they had plans to move the game to any other place but Columbia. What happened inside is still a mystery, but whatever they did, certainly worker for the better. I am not holding any grudge for what they told us. At the end of the day, what matters to me is the game's quality. It did just fine to be candid with you. There is nothing more they could do with this game. So yeah, I am a happy customer here as far as the game purchasing goes. Duke Nukem Forever
I am not even sure where and how to begin. I could do a separate article about how obnoxious and hideous that game really is. I mane, what were the thinking when they actually launched this product? What started back in 1999, launched in late 2000s, but the much hyped game was nothing more than pure gibberish. It would have been really good experience had the team shown even a meager interest in developing a decent game. But unfortunately, it wasn't the case. The development period of this game was a purgatory. In the end, it was pretty overt that this game isn't gonna make it and even if it sees the light of the day, it will be a mediocre game. And this is exactly what happened.
I am pretty sure even a 4 year old wouldn't find the obscene jokes funny. On the contrary, it's pretty annoying that game tries to be something else when it really isn't. Perhaps, if they could focus more on gameplay rather than trying to create a badass character, things would have been far better and we would have great game on our hands. Unfortunately though, it wasn't the case. It failed miserably as soon as it launched as the graphics looked like back from PS2 era. So it's pretty obvious that not a lot of people bought this game. Resultantly, the future of the franchise is in danger now. Honestly speaking, after the sabotaged outing of Duke Nukem Forever, I hope that the franchise says dead. I don't want to play the same thing over and over again unless they can do something innovative, touching the franchise again isn't going to do them a lot good. It might as well hurt their financial position if they invest much in something when it isn't going to do well in the market. No matter how good your game is, if you have betrayed your fans, they are going to make you pay for this. And yeah, the annihilated fanbase can get really rough when they want to. Well, that's what you get for not staying true to your words.Forza 5
Racing games haven't been doing well in the recent past. That's not my choice for sure as I like shooters and RPGs better. I don't like to be trapped in the cockpit driving the car perpetually. Anyway, those who were premised something amazing with Froza 5, were betrayed for sure as the game turned out to be imposed with microtransactions. They wanted us to pay for the car upgrades, gears and what not. They totally messed up with the original concept of the game and morphed it into a greedy frame. It's pretty overt that they had only money in mind when they changed the game's fundaments. It's pretty saddening to see them do something like his, but hey, it's Microsoft. What else can you expect from those guys?
