A brief Detail about 4G dongle:
Airtel 4G offers both plug and use as well Wi-Fi routers. The USB device costs Rs.1,500/- while the Wi-Fi Router costs Rs4,000/-. There are several rental plans that are offered. The Plan starts from 3GB data download and it costs Rs.650/- per month. After 3GB data download the speed would drop down and the data download is free of charge. The recommended plan is 10GB which costs Rs.999/- Month. If the customer opts for the 10GB plan then the device is given at a discounted cost of Rs.1,100/-. For Rs.999/- and above plans they also some freebies like games download etc.
The processing is as simple as acquiring a new SIM card. Upon the completion of basic formalities, the customer is given the pack of 4G dongle device and a SIM card. The SIM is of the basic size (not a micro SIM) and it has to be installed into the phone and the customer needs to call 56959. The 4G services would then be activated within 1hr.
Once the activation is completed the SIM needs to placed in the dongle and then plugged to the Laptop. Upon the software installation the system needs to be restarted and then one can plug in start surfing.

The purchase procedure is simple. But the representatives are not thoroughly aware of the device costs and the tariff plans. The info given by the call center representative is not in sync with the sales guy. Finally the manager had to come and resolve the issue. All this happened because the prices were hiked in between and were again reduced because of public demand.0
The representatives claim that speed at any time would never be below 9 mbps. They give assurance about zero sec waiting time for videos streaming. I am happy with the speed and there was no waiting time for the videos streaming as promised. I even got to know from my colleague that a movie of around 2.8GB was downloaded in 15 minutes which is very good.
The main difference what I observed is that the speed of 4G is not the same across all the locations in the city. The speed is little bit on the lower side in residential areas when compared to the area close to the IT sector of the city.
Airtel is offering 4G services even on Apple iPhones but currently the offer is restricted only to Bangalore.
There are lot of improvements required in the services offered. Mainly in trouble shooting and data plan details information is not consistent. Keeping this apart the device works fine and the speed is far better than other service providers. I think its worth it.
