Are you looking to buy a toy for children below 5 years? Read this article to know the features of the top 5 toys for children. Make your kid happy by buying her/him an educational and entertaining toy. All these toys are available on amazon at discounted prices.

Last week, it was my niece's second birthday and I was searching all around to find a suitable gift. There is a plethora of children's toys these days and each toy is just as alluring as the other. Needless to say, they are expensive too. Choosing one is difficult and so I ended up buying a basket full of gifts of her. The toys mentioned here are some of my favorites. All these toys are available on Amazon at discounted prices.

ELC Pocket Scribbler

The pocket scribbler by Early Learning Centre is a must have if you want to save your walls. My two year niece doodles and draws on walls and it seemed just impossible to stop her. The violet colored, attractive pocket scribbler catches children's attention and they love unleashing their creativity on the scribbler. The product is available in multiple colors. It is like an attractive small slate which you can easily carry along. There is a pen and an eraser to wipe the screen. The product measures 11.4 x 7.8 x 1.8 cm and is very light weight (18g). Batteries are not included in the pack.

Fisher Price Doddle Pro Classic Doodler with 2 Stampers Learning Toy

Children can doodle and draw anything on the toy screen with their magnetic pen but what I loved about this toy was the butterfly design stampers that come in the pack. Any girl child, like my niece, would love them. I only wish that the chord with the pen should have been a bit longer. The product is sturdy and durable. My niece keeps it throwing here and there all the time but the toy has had no cracks or scratches by now. It measures 40.6 x 3.8 x 30.5 cm and weighs 1.1kg. It is very much the same like ELC Pocket Scribbler except the fact that it can't be carried in pocket. My niece plays with the Fisher Price Doodler most of the time when she is at home and with the ELC Scribbler when she is out for market or at somebody's home (the creative girl always craves to doodle). Fisher Price Doodler comes in multi colors and all colors are simply gorgeous. No batteries are included in the pack.

    Leapster®2 Learning System Pink

Leap Frog has designed this preschool learning game system to stimulate mental development of children. Leapster®2 has plenty of tutorials and resources for a robust learning experience. The level of learning automatically adjusts as per the child's pace. So, the faster a child wins difficult games, the faster his resources increase. This is the perfect way to let the child develop on his own, without burdening him. The toy is compatible with 30+ Leapster learning games. This allows them to play practice more skills as they play more games. The design is compact and it is very portable. It measures 6.6 x 26.9 x 33 cm and weighs 454 g. Children can connect the toy with home computer. The Leapster2 system connects to the LeapFrog® Learning Path, a free online tool for children's learning. An online creativity studio allows them to upload and share their paintings, craft images and art with family & friends. With USB connection, parents can track their children's progress and get details of the skills they are exploring in new games. This can be also useful in the way that parents can identify their children's weaknesses at an early stage and work upon them. Clearly this toy is a bit more sophisticated for my two year old niece. Even the manufacturer's minimum suggested age is three but I still purchased this gift because it looked too fancy to resist. The touchscreen and stylus (for helping develop motor skills) are the major fascinations she remains busy with. You get 4AA batteries in the pack but they are not sufficient if the child plays with the toy all day. Extra batteries are expensive.

VTech Disney Planes Dusty Learning Toy Laptop

The Learning Toy laptop by VTech and Disney is a good toy to teach children math, logic, art and basic ABC. It comes with twenty fun games and activities. As the manufacturer's minimum suggested age mentioned was two years, I bought this toy but upon going through all learning activities, I realized it is more suitable for children between three to five years. The product comes in different attractive colors and is very easy to handle. It measures 26.9 x 26.9 x 7.9 cm and weighs 1.2kg(making it one of the heaviest toy laptops in market). There is QWERTY keyboard and easy to use control buttons. The Dusty Mode Selector allows you to choose from five different themes and modes. The slide and go phone is the main attraction for my niece other than Dusty, the mouse. Also, this cute little laptop prevents her from playing with our Lenovo laptop. 3 A batteries are included in the pack.

    LeapFrog My Own Leaptop Scout

This green educational laptop is for four years old children as per instructions on pack but I found it pretty suitable for a two year old as well. It plays music, poems and introduces children with animals, shapes and alphabets. It is like a digital book. There are six modes to choose from. It measures 22.9 x 17.8 x 3.6 cm, is easily portable and weighs 998g only. The product is sturdy and durable. Batteries are included in the pack but if your child plays music all day, you need to buy extra batteries for sure.
