After a lot of guessing and rumors finally Normandy comes out. Nokia introduced their first ever Android smartphones in to the market at MWC 2014. Firstly the company introduced three new devices named Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL in to the Normandy releases. Although we are calling these devices as Android, it's not really 100% Android. Normandy platform devices do not support important Android services such as ,a href="/articles/Google-Play-Store.aspx">Google Play Store, Gmail, and Chrome etc. However these mid ranged smartphones will support Nokia HERE Maps, Microsoft One Cloud and Skype. The Nokia X comes with a 4" IPS LCD display and a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. This screen provides a reasonable contrast and brightness with 233 ppi pixel density. Its multi touch is limited up to 2 fingers. The build quality of this device superb and the plastic packing is highly resistive against fingerprints. The 115.5 x 63 x 10.4 mm dimension body of Nokia X measures 128.7 g. This Nokia smartphone runs on the Android v4.4.2 KitKat which is the latest from Google. It's powered with dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A5 processor, Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 Play chipset and Adreno 203 GPU. Nokia X comes with a 3MP back shooter fixed focus camera with a picture resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. It supports 480p@30fps video as well as featured with 1/5'' sensor size, panorama and face detection. However it lacks in front facing camera hence video calling. This 3G network device supports connectivity options such as GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, as well as GPS with A-GPS support. Nokia X+ is an improved version of Nokia X. However the improvement is only available for its RAM. Other features are almost same and it also holds the same color option as well as builds quality which is available for Nokia X devices. The upgraded RAM of Nokia X+ helped this device to provide better and faster experience for the users when switching apps and navigating around operating system. Nokia XL comes with a lot of differences from other two Normandy devices. The 5" capacitive touch screen and 5MP rear camera with LED flash are some examples for that. However hardware specs such as operating system, processor, RAM etc are same in Nokia XL and X+. The 5" IPS LCD capacitive touch screen comes with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 16M colors, 187 ppi pixel density and multi touch feature. However they failed to provide a protective covering on the screen to prevent the smudging of fingerprints. This device runs perfectly on this Android operating system as well as its 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 chipset performing a good job of running and switching between multiple apps.
