Are you looking to buy a premium Android smart phone in India? Then this article may help you. Here I am conducting a review and comparison of specs and features of two highly recommended premium Android smart phones from LG. LG is the no: 1 manufacturers of Android smart phones globally and this article will help you to know more about LG Nexus 5 and LG G2 devices those helped LG to holds it's no: 1 position in the market.

Now LG holds the pole position in Android smart phone market with a handful of mobiles. After LG Nexus 4, which created huge impacts in the Android market in 2012, they released LG Nexus 5 on November 2013. Before the release of LG Nexus 5, LG released their flag ship product LG G2 on September 2013 which became a rival for Nexus 5. We can find a lot of similarities between these two devices hence we can call these as twin brothers. LG Nexus 5 comes with a lot of key specs and latest Android operating system. On the other hand LG G2 one of the flag ship products of LG comes with a 13 MP rear camera with optical image stabilization. It offers minimal blur and higher shooting prefer under unfavorable light conditions. Now its time to take a deep look on the specs and features of LG Nexus 5 and LG G2 and to make a detailed comparison of both these phones.

Design and Display of LG Nexus 5 and LG G2

When comparing both these LG devices G2 is little bit lengthy, wider and thicker than Nexus 5. Nexus has a dimension of 137.9 x 69.2 x 8.6 mm whereas G2 measures a dimension of 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9 mm and weighs 143g. It's a little bit heavier than (13g) 130g Nexus 5. Nexus 5 has a clean frontal side without any emblems, switches, or any projections. Whereas LG G2 has an emblem on the bottom of the frontal display. Both these devices look almost same from the front view. The curved edges are also same. When came to the display rear Nexus has a 4.95 inch True ID IPS capacitive touch screen with 16M colors and a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It also holds a pixel density of 445 ppi. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. When we deal with the LG G2, it's a 5.2 images phablet with True HD IPS+LCD capacitive touch screen with 16M colors and a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Its 424 ppi pixel density is little bit lesser than Nexus 5. The display is guarded and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 just like Nexus 5.
Winner: On design features Nexus 5 goals. Nexus 5 provides a better handling experience than G2 because of its light weight and lesser dimension. On display LG G2 goals with a 5.2 inches display. However it lacks in pixel density when compare with the Nexus 5.

Operating System and Processor

Both these phones run on the Android platform. So it's easy to find out the winner. Nexus 5 is one of the latest smart phones which are emblazed by the latest Android v4.4 KitKat and it also upgradable to v4.4.2 KitKat. On the other hand LG G2 embellished with Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean. But it's not capable to cross walk Nexus 5. Nexus 5 has a quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 processor, Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chip set, and Adreno GPU. G2 is almost available with all hardware specs which are available in Nexus 5 except the processor speed. LG G2 processor cloaked at 2.26 GHz whereas Nexus 5 got a speed of 2.3 GHz, a little bit more than G2. Sensors such as accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass are common on both devices.
Winner: With latest Android KitKat version and a little bit faster processor than LG G2 helps the LG Nexus 5 to catch the pole position in the comparison of both these devices hardware specs.

Comparison of Camera and Connectivity Specs

Camera is an inevitable feature of smart phone. If a smart phone said to be perfect then in my opinion it must need a 5 mega pixel rear camera and at least one mega pixel front cam. In case of Nexus 5 it has an 8 mega pixel auto focus, optical image stabilization rear camera with a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. The rear camera is also provided with an LED flash for a better photographic experience during low light conditions. The frontal camera is a 1.3 mega pixel one which is perfect for video calling purpose. Camera features such as geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, photo sphere, HDR, dual recording etc will provided a better camera experience. When we come to the LG G2 it's got an ultra impressive 13 mega pixel auto focus, optical image stabilization rear camera which is far ahead of Nexus 5. The secondary camera of 2.1 mega pixel is also a cut-throat to Nexus 5. Features such as simultaneous videos and image recording, geo-tagging, face detection, HDR are also included.
The connectivity options of both these 4G devices are almost same. Both of these devices has Class 12 GPRS and EDGE connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP and USB Host and USB on-the-go. LG G2 included with some extra features such as Bluetooth LE and an Infrared port.
Winner: With a greater pixel clarity of rear and front cameras and the availability of additional connectivity options, LG G2 scores more than Nexus 5 and claimed his win in this camera and connectivity segment.

Memory and Battery

Memory and battery are the two key features that provides the better performance for its users when playing games and apps. Nowadays we can find a lot of games and software apps from Google Play store. Some of these require heavy internal memory as well as RAM. So users are moving towards the devices which are having good memory assets. Here in LG Nexus 5 and LG G2 both these devices are same in memory features. Both these devices has a 2 GB RAM, and 16/32 GB internal memory. These are not equipped with external card slots hence it lacks expandable storage capacity.
Just like memory you need a bigger powerhouse for a continuous power supply for a long time game play. Here Nexus 5 powered by a non-removable Li-po 2300 mAh battery. It is able to deliver a continuous standby time up to 300 hours and talk time up to 17 hours. On the other hand G2 is far better than Nexus 5 with a powerhouse of non-removable Li-po 3000 mAh battery which provides a standby time up to 790 hours and talk time up to 17 hours.
Winner There is no winner for the memory specs. This is because both these devices carry the same memory assets. For battery LG G2 is the winner because of its powerful 3000 mAh non-removable battery which has a great standby time and talk time duration.

Price and Availability

The price of LG Nexus 5 in India is Rs. 33,900. But it's available for a price of Rs. 28,999 from Google Play store. LG G2 priced Rs. 40,490 and you can buy it from Flip kart for Rs. 35,999.

Conclusion

Both these Android devices are from LG one of the leading Android smart phone manufacturer. Nexus 5 is one of the latest from them and that's why it comes with the Android KitKat version. LG G2 is two months elder than Nexus 5 and that's why it has only got a Jelly Bean version. Both these devices have almost all same features on its hardware, design, and memory specs. For a good camera and battery you have to go for LG G2. However when we compare the price of these two LG Nexus 5 is much cheaper and better than LG G2.
