Disadvantages of DTH Service in India
Most of the people prefer DTH over cable TV in India these days. However, there are certain limitation of Dish TV as well. This post explains in detail about the disadvantages of DTH service.
If you are one of those thinking to switch to DTH from cable TV, you may need to rethink the decision. No doubt, DTH is replacing the Digital Cable fast in India but there are still various limitations of DTH. This post explains in detail about the disadvantages of DTH service in India. Why is DTH gaining popularity over Cable TV
There are a number of reasons behind the increasing popularity of DTH over cable TV like:
1)DTH comes with additional options like recording and HD channels. These facilities are not available in case of normal cable connection.
2)DTH gives more flexibility to the user. A user can opt for any channel pack and even modify it next month. There is also an option to add additional channels by paying some fixed amount per channel.Disadvantages of DTH connection
However, there are some limitations with DTH as well which very few users are aware of. The disadvantages of DTH connection in India are listed below:
1)All the DTH provides rely on national satellites to serve the customers. At such, heavy rain disrupts the signal and affects picture quality. In case of storm, the service might get interrupted for few hours. In case, you are living at a place where heavy rainfall is common, cable connection might appear to be better option.
2)Most of the Indian consumers are price sensitive in any field. When we compare the installation charges for cable connection and DTH connection, the former appears less costly. No doubt, there is no feature of HD channels in DTH connection but how many DTH users really use it. Most of the Indian consumers opt only for standard channels even in DTH connections of Airtel, Reliance, d2h or Tata Sky. The pricing is also lower in terms of monthly expense. In case of cable connection, user can save about 100-300 per month while viewing the same channel.
3)Another major problem in case of DTH connection arises at the time of disconnection. Buyers are not aware about the company policies regarding recharges and disconnection initially. Most of the companies require the user to recharge every month whether, you use it or not. In case, you fail to recharge, these companies will threaten to surrender the device. In case of cable connection, you can expect free installation and no threatening at the time of disconnection.
Thus in my opinion Cable TV connection is still a good option in India. It ensures that you watch TV without any interruption even in case of heavy rain. You can get review about the local cable provider from neighbors and get the installation done in few hours. One of the recent changes done for cable connection users is that they have to fill the CAF now. Moreover, TV users also have to buy a set up box in case of cable connection too. The set up box is available in the market for Rs 1000-1500 and is just one time investment.
