IRCTC has launched E-Wallet scheme to enable faster ticket booking

IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited) which is an enterprise of Government of India. Recently it has announced new features like IRCTC shopping and 'eWALLET'. eWALLET is one kind of 'online balance of money' specially allocated for payment of online tickets for secure and hassle free transaction of ticket booking.

How to register for IRCTC E-wallet?


To use eWALLET scheme, one need to register for it by use of one's PAN number. Follow this step by step procedure to get registered on IRCTC eWALLET.

Step:1 Log in to your IRCTC account by use of user name and password you are currently using.

Step:2 Go to Plan my travel section. Here you will find many options. One of them will be 'eWALLET'.

Step:3 Click on 'eWALLET registration' link and follow the instructions.

Step:4 You need to enter your PAN number and your first name. Once you enter both details, you will get payment gateway page.

Step:5 Here you need to enter your existing account's transaction password and also need to select the payment option. This registration fees is Rs. 250/- inclusive of all taxes and related factors. This is non-refundable one time registration fees for using 'E-Wallet'.

Step:6 Upon successful payment, you will get following message, 'eWallet registration successful, Congratulations, you have successfully registered under IRCTC eWALLET scheme'.

How to deposit money in IRCTC eWALLET ?


At this moment, you have just registered for eWALLET but your current account status of eWALLET is NIL. You need to deposit some money before making any further ticket booking.

1. To deposit money in your IRCTC eWALLET, you need to go eWALLET link, and select 'eWALLET deposit' in tab.
2. The Page will ask for deposit amount between Rs. 100 and Rs. 5000. You cannot deposit Rs. 5000 at a time. And minimum amount of deposit is Rs. 100.
3. After entering the deposit amount, select the payment option and corresponding service charge will be shown below it. Once you complete the transaction, message of successful payment will be displayed.

Advantages of eWALLET scheme


1. eWALLET gives you secure payment option. No need to enter bank details any more time.
2. You need to pay service charge only one time when you deposit the amount in eWALLET. Whereas on tradition payment options, you need to pay Rs. 10 or corresponding amount every time you pay for any ticket.
3. eWALLET provides hassle free and no need to worry about or waiting for payment confirmation.
4. Faster handling of cancellation and refund process can be expected by use of eWALLET.

But on the other hand, you will not be able to use this eWALLET scheme from 8.00 am to 12.00 noon. You cannot book tatkal ticket by this option. You need to pay Rs. 5 per ticket on every eWALLET transaction.

Thus, eWALLET introduced by IRCTC will sure make ticket booking secure and faster. Use this feature and enjoy your ticket booking with IRCTC.
