Aakash Tablet PC and Ubislate 7 are 2 different products from the same company. Both are tablet PCs and have a lot of similar features. In fact, the Aakash Tablet PC is a low cost version of the Ubislate 7.

DataWind is a company that manufacture and sell tablet PCs under the brand name Ubislate. Through an agreement with the Government of India, DataWind manufactured a low cost, low configuration edition of DataWind and that is called "Aakash Tablet PC".

Difference between DataWind UbiSlate 7 and Aakash Tablet PC


The primary difference between Aakash Tablet PC and Ubislate is the configuration. Aakash tablet is a very basic tablet computer with minimal features for the students. Ubislate comes with a lot more features at just a little bit higher cost. The additional features in the Ubislate are mentioned below:

Ubislate includes internet connectivity through GPRS and Wifi. However, you need to pay monthly subscription fees to use the GPRS internet service. The monthly cost will be Rs 98 which offers 2 GB data usage. The Aakash tablet does not include GPRS connectivity.

One of the most important difference between Ubislate and Aakash tablet is, the Ubislate can be used as a phone. Just insert your mobile SIM in to the Ubislate and it is ready to make phone calls.

7 inch touch screen with HD video quality.

You can access about 1.5 Lakh android apps from Ubislate and Aakash tablets.

Both Ubislate and Aakash tablet include MP3 player and video player and allow you to play a wide range of audio and video files supported by Android.

You can have some external accessories like car charger, external antennas and so on.

Both Aakash tablet and Ubi slate offers USB support.

The internal memory is expandable to 32 GB

Aakash Tablet PC is available for students at a subsidized rate of Rs 1750. The commercial version Ubislate will cost Rs 2999 for purchase in the retail market.

Both Aakash tablet and Ubislate are manufactured in India but include several parts from various other countries including China.

NOTE: A newer version of Aakash tablet PC will be coming soon in the name of "Aakash 2". IIT Rajastan has finalized the design of an upgraded version of Aakash, which they named "Aakash 2" which has a lot more feature than the first version.
