HTC One V smartphone - Hands on review

HTC launched its compact smartphone HTC One V previous month in April. HTC One V is a younger brother of HTC's flagship phone HTC one and is compact is stylish.

I got a chance to use HTC One V from my friend who purchased it recently. I borrowed it and got a chance to review it.

Design

This one from HTC is a younger brother of HTC One and it fits in rightly. It has got a compact and stylish form factor with 3.5 inches capacitive touchscreen which supports multi touch. It has power button on the top, volume keys on the right side and a USB cum charging port on left. USB port remains open with no rubber covering. No addon keys like dedicated camera key. It has got curved edges and the bottom of smartphone is bulged upwards giving it a stylish look. The back of phone has got a metal finish. Overall a great looking phone.

Features

This phone has got a notification LED on the top which gives you alerts like Low battery and others which you can configure manually. Regarding memory, it has got 4GB internal memory out of which only 1GB is user available. But you can extend memory by using microSD card upto 32GB. The smartphone has got a 5MP camera with Autofocus, LED flash and smile detection. The camera can record 720p HD videos. The camera quality is very good even in Low lighting conditions. But, there is no secondary camera. So, no luck for Skype and video calling lovers.

Although some websites mention this phone with Mini Sim but mine one came with Normal sim. The phone has got 3.7 inches at 480x800 pixels at 252ppi. The display quality is nice even in daylight. The capacitive touch screen with multitouch support has excellent touch response. For connectivity, it comes with WiFi(with WiFi direct support), Bluetooth 4.0 , microUSB port and HSDPA support. Other features include GPS and FM Radio. One more interesting feature is BeatsAudio which gives this phone a excellent sound quality and loud sound.

Performance

Coming to performance, this phone comes with 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Adreno 205 GPU. With 512MB RAM, this phone handles multi tasking well but lags sometimes. Some heavy graphic games like Temple Run, Subway Surf lag. Maybe a future update can fix it. It has got Android 4.0 IceCreamSandwich which, HTC says is not upgradable to Android 4.1 Jellybean. Battery is 1500 mAh is nice and gives long life for this phone.
