Review of Magic DVD Ripper, a professional DVD Ripper tool
Are you looking for a good DVD ripper software to backup or convert your videos? Read our review on Magic DVD ripper, a professional software to rip DVDs, convert video formats and copy to harddisk or other media.
I have spent a lot of money buying DVDs again and again, which my kids scratched or damaged in different ways. My 3rd year old son damaged another expensive DVD recently by scratching it and I could do nothing but blame myself for not making the backups of the originals before I handed over those to the kids.
I started reviewing some of the top DVD ripper software available in the market. Initially, I was looking only for the free DVD rippers since I thought it is not worth spending a lot of money on it, especially when there are many free versions available. But I quickly learned a professional software is a better choice due to additional features available, reliability and the professional customer support we receive.
Today, I am reviewing Magic DVD Ripper, a professional DVD ripping software available in the market for quite a long time.
You can learn more about Magic DVD Ripper at their official website http://www.magicdvdripper.com/.Magic DVD Products
When I looked at their official website, the first thing that struck me was, they have some 10th anniversary offers going on, which allows you to buy the software at a decent discount. It was not the deal that impressed me but the fact that they have been in this business for 10 years gave me some confidence that they know their business well and have gone through the DVD formats and related technology as it evolved.
Currently they are offering 2 different DVD tools:
Both of them do different functions. Magic DVD Ripper software can convert a wide range of DVD formats to other formats and copy the video to a hard disk. Copier can be used to make copies of your DVD and copy them to other DVDs.Magic DVD Ripper
Since I was looking for a solution to backup my expensive DVDs, I was a bit confused at first on what software to choose. In most cases, it is better to take backups to another DVD, keep the original DVD safe and use the copy for day to day use. But at times, I don't want to waste a full DVD in case the content in the DVD is too less. In those cases, I want the DVD Ripper which can convert the videos and copy them to an external hard disk for backup. I wish Magic DVD had a combined product which can do both the jobs in the same software. (I just learnt they offer both products as a bundle for a slightly higher price than that of a single tool.)
Key features
Here are some of the interesting features of the DVD ripping software:
And most importantly, it can remove all the restrictions of DVD (CSS, Region, RCE, Sony ARccOS, PuppetLock) allowing you to freely use your DVD anyway you want it. If your DVD player accepts only specific regions and your DVD is locked for a non-supported region, Magic DVD Ripper is there for rescue.
NOTE: Magic DVD Ripper can convert videos and copy to your hard disk. To copy them to another DVD, you will need a separate software like CDBurnerXP. (I personally recommend CDBurnerXP, which is a free software for burning DVDs and ISO images). My experience and review of Magic DVD Ripper
I downloaded Magic DVD Ripper from their website. The 5.6Mb software took about 30 seconds to download using my reasonably good speed WiMax Internet connection.
Installation was very straightforward and there was nothing more than a few standard installation screens. At the end of the installation, the software was launched, however, I got a warning since I was using the trial version. The trial version allows a maximum of 5 uses of the software.
Once I reached the main application screen, there are 2 main options:
1. Backup - This option allows copying the entire movie to hard disk, split into 2 or copy only the main movie excluding the subtitles and unwanted audio.
2. Convert - This option allows converting video to a wide range of other formats so that you can play the videos in many devices including PC, iPhone, iPod, Android devices etc.
Overall, Magic DVD Ripper is a fast, reliable and easy to use software, that does the job perfectly. I tried ripping few DVDs already and they were all done perfectly well without any errors or problems.
You can download a trial version from the official website and upgrade to a paid edition if you feel this software is the right DVD ripper for you - http://www.magicdvdripper.com/
