In 2011, it was the first time when Olympus had introduced its first Pen Mini camera i.e. Olympus E-PM1. Now, in early 2013 Olympus has launched another Pen Mini camera, named Olympus E-PM2. The camera is launched with many more interesting and new features like interchangeable lens, touchcreen, point-and-shoot, 16MP CMOS Four Thirds sensor, etc. Through this camera, a fast rate of 8fps continuous shooting is possible. Design and body: The Olympus PEN E-PM2 camera is very light to carry in hand. It weighs about 269 grams. The dimensions of the camera is 110 x 64 x 34 mm (4.33 x 2.52 x 1.34″). Like the previous model, this camera is also very easy carry. The camera is available only in red and black colors. The device features a Rangefinder-style mirrorless camera.

Sensor: Olympus PEN E-PM2 camera uses a CMOS sensor that features effective 16.1 megapixels. The size of the sensor is Four Thirds (17.3 x 13 mm). The camera gives output images in the ratio 4:3. The max resolution of screen is 4608 x 3456 other resolutions are 2560 x 1920 pixels, 1024 x 768 pixels. For color space, the device comes with sRGB and Adobe RGB.

Image: E-PM2 camera gives ISO Auto (200 - 1600), 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400, 12800, 16000, 20000 and 25600 image features. There are 8 white balances present in the camera. The device supports image stabilization feature with Sensor-shift. The camera boasts RAW, JPEG, RAW + JPEG and MPO(3D still ) file formats.

Optics and focus: Olympus PEN E-PM2 supports auto-focus feature which includes Contrast Detect (sensor), multi-area, selective single point, tracking, single, continuous, touch, face detection and live view features. The device also supports autofocus assist lamp feature. The camera as far lacks the digital zoom technology. There are 35 focus points in the camera and the lens is mounted by Micro 4/3 Lens Mount. The lens supports 2x focal length multiplier.

Screen and view finder: The device has a fixed articulated LCD screen. The screen has 3.0 inch display size. The device comes with 460,000 screen dots. The LCD screen is fully equipped with touchscreen technology. The view finder feature in the camera is optional for users. The device supports the Live View feature which can be controlled through remote.

Photography features: The minimum shutter speed of the camera is 60 seconds and the maximum shutter speed is 1/4000 seconds. The exposure mode of the camera supports i Auto, program AE, Aperture priority, shutter priority, manual, bulb, time, time, scene select AE, art filter and underwater.

Videography features: The video of camera supports three formats - MPEG-4, H.264 and Motion JPEG formats. The Olympus PEN E-PM2 camera has stereo microphone and mono speaker. The video can record pictures from many different resolutions - 1920 x 1080 (30 fps), 1280 x 720 (30 fps), 640 x 480 (30 fps).

Flash: Olympus PEN E-PM2 camera does not come with built in flash feature as it is bundled with external flash. The flash range of the camera supports 7 m (bundled FL-LM1) and external flash with Clip-on FL-LM1 included and Hot-shoe. The device supports different flash modes like Auto, On, Off, Red-eye, Slow sync, manual (3 levels). The speed of Flash X sync is 1/250 seconds. The camera can capture 8fps recording during continuous drive. The metering mode of camera includes multi, center-weighted and spot features.

Memory Storage: Olympus PEN E-PM2 camera does not comes with built-in memory but its storage capacity can be established by using SD/SDHC and SDXC cards.

Connectivity: For connectivity, the camera supports USB 2.0 (480 Mbit/sec), HDMI (Mini HDMI type C) and remote control (Optional RM-UC1). The wireless connection of Olympus PEN E-PM2 camera features a Eye-Fi connection.

Battery: Olympus PEN E-PM2 camera comes loaded with Lithium-Ion BLS-5 rechargeable battery. The battery offers good standby time to users.

Package contents: The package content of the camera includes Olympus PEN E-PM2 camera, battery pack and its charger. The package does not contain other accessories like USB, head phone, data cable and memory card. The camera has many extra features like orientation sensors and selt-timer but the camera is still missing the GPS facility.

Price and availability of Olympus PEN E-PM2: Olympus PEN E-PM2 camera is recently launched in the market by the manufacturer company. It is currently not available in all the stores. The camera is not yet available in India for sale. At present, the camera is available on the online shopping websites where it costs $500.
