Actual Multiple MonitorsActual Multiple Monitors was developed by the company, Actual Tools, which is known for the development of desktop enhancement applications for the Windows operating system. The company was started by a software engineer, Michael Tretyakov in 2001. The Actual Multiple Monitors was developed to overcome the shortcomings of the Windows operating system. The actual tool customers include a huge variety of enterprises worldwide including some of the respected enterprises such as NASA, GE healthcare, etc.

The Actual Multiple Monitors helps to improve the Windows user experience when working with multiple displays. The highlight of this tool is that you can get the Windows 7 taskbar on each monitor that utilizes all modern functions like Pin, Peek and Jump Lists. It also helps create a full replica of the system taskbar, with its own Start button, system tray, clock, toolbars, etc. Windows 8 users can make the Start menu occupy quarter of the screen or replace it with the standard Start button for Windows 7.

This is created for multi-monitor configurations. Execute the downloaded installation file (for instance ammsetup.exe). It is a self executable file. Then, just follow the setup instructions displayed on your screen to install the Actual Multiple Monitor software.

Features of the Actual Multiple Monitors:

Multi-Monitor Taskbar : Actual Multiple Monitors can imitate the original Windows Taskbar on the secondary display too. Now, you will be able to control the open windows with action such as minimize and switch between them irrespective of the type of monitor, whether it is primary or any of secondaries.

The taskbar has three different modes:
  • Individual(default) mode: In this mode, each taskbar displays the buttons only for windows, which are on the same monitor.
  • Mirror mode: In the mirror mode, all the taskbars display all the open windows, no matter what monitor a particular window is on. Basically, all the taskbars show the same set of buttons.
  • Mixed mode: Here, the primary taskbar displays all open windows, but all secondary taskbars contain only the relevant windows.

  • With the Multi-monitor Taskbar extension, you can easily toggle the options using the secondary taskbar's context menu.

Multi-Monitor Wallpaper : Using the Multi-monitor Background Wallpaper feature, Windows uses its desktop settings from the Display Properties dialog onto each monitor identically. It displays the same background color and picture on all monitors without distinguishing them or considering their relative layout.

Custom Hotkeys : There are several types of hotkeys defined for various actions. They are :
  • Title Buttons / Window Menu Hotkeys
  • Numpad Hotkey Groups
  • Hotkeys for Standard Window Operations
  • Hotkeys for Control Center Service Operations
  • Hotkeys of the Virtual Desktops Facility
  • Window Snapping Hotkeys
  • Desktop Divider Hotkeys
  • Custom Hotkeys

  • Desktop Divider : With the desktop divider feature, you will be able to divide the entire large desktop or each monitor into several non-intersecting areas called as tiles. You can place a window into one of the tiles and the window will expand up to tile's borders only. It is possible to create as many such custom tile layouts as you need. It can be activated on the fly as and when required.

Window Location : With this feature, you can set rules and set any specified monitor, where any window will run.

Desktop Profiles : Once the desktop profile is activated, a named group of different Windows desktop settings is applied at one go. The desktop profile consists of the following :
  • The number of displays available on your machine.
  • The relative layout of displays.
  • Per display information.

  • This can be accessed through the Desktop Profiles Manager feature, which is available whenever the Control Center is running. There are options to switch between profiles with the help of a special popup menu. You can also manage the list of profiles and their properties in the Desktop Profiles panel.

This is done through the special submenu in window's system menu or via the hotkeys.

Multi-Monitor Screen Saver : The Multi-monitor Screen Saver feature helps in setting up screen savers for the different displays. There is an option to stretch any screen saver over the entire composite desktop or specify individual screen savers for each display.

Some of the functions it can help is quick switching of the mouse pointer between monitors via the hotkeys, ability to lock the mouse pointer within its current monitor, either in hard or soft manner, or wrapping the desktop.
