Panasonic is one of the most popular brand names in computer market, who have masters in making robust computing devices. Last month, company has unveiled their two most rugged tablet machines, which are water and dust proof and constructed well with very solid built-up.

In my last post on such rugged tablet PCs, Part-1, I mentioned specs and features of two tablets from MobileDemand and Fujitsu. And for this time, I am going to describe two ultimate robust devices from Panasonic, both running Pro version of Microsoft's new operating system.

The first is Toughbook C2 is a 12.5 inches convertible tablet and 3.99 lbs in weight. It also has a spill-resistant keyboard. And the second FZ-G1 tablet is water and dust resistant machine with strong silver plastic shell bounded by rubber corners.

The Toughbook C2 from Panasonic is a highly durable 12.5 inches laptop, which runs Microsoft's latest Pro version of Windows 8. As its named suggests, this is a very tough machine which comes with three years limited warranty. And a keyboard dock, when attached to the tablet, allows it to convert into full fledged laptop.

Specs and features


The computing device boasts of a 12.5 inches 5-point capacitive 500 nit HD display. It also features anti-glare and anti-reflective treatment with IPS panel for giving ultimate wide viewing angles. It has a 720p HD webcam device has a built-in microphone and a 3MP rear camera.

This semi-rugged machine runs on latest Window 8 Pro 64-bit operating system and has option to run on Windows 7 also. The machine is energized by Intel's Core i5-3427U cProTM (3MB cache) running at very fast 2.8 GHz, couples to Intel Turbo boost technology.

The machine weights around 3.99 lb and has a spill-resistant keyboard with magnesium alloy case. It has triple hinge design for providing extra support to device screen and converts the tablet into a shock proof laptop.

FZ-G1 is another Windows 8 Pro based robust tablet PC from Panasonic which comes with 10.1 inch display and includes option for micro SDXC removable storage. It is 2.43 lbs in weight and measures to 10.6 x 7.4 x 0.75 inches. The device is stronger in respect of battery backup as well as physical construction with silver plastic shell, bounded by rubber corners. Panasonic launched this device last month and specified that the machine features IP65 certification which proves it to be dust and water resistant. The device has already been used by volunteers with Sydney's Northern Beaches Branch of Surf Life Saving Australia.

Specifications


This robust machine comes with a 10.1 inches touch screen display and 1,920 x 1,200 pixels (WUXGA) of resolution with brightness rating of 800 cd/m2. It comes with two cameras – first 1.3 MP of front end camera while the other 13 MP autofocus rear mounting camera with LED light.

Running on Microsoft's latest Pro version of operating system, this device is powered up by Intel's 3rd gen dual-core i5-3437U vPro processor clocking at 1.9GHz. It owns 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of SSD storage inside memory, which gives system reasonably fast boot up speed.

For network connectivity, the system includes multiple connectivity features and ports such as 4G LTE – a network service which is widely adopted by worldwide services carriers. Various connectors like Micro USB, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro USB as well as Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n and option for 3G networking for very fast internet browsing and downloading speed also there on device.
