Are you looking forward to the features and specifications of Huawei P9? The 3rd largest smartphone manufacturer of the world, Huawei has officially launched the P9 in India. Here we go with the brief description of the new Huawei P9 in this concise review.
Huawei P9 has been launched by Huawei in India on August 17, 2016. The best feature with this device is its extraordinary camera. The phone has been manufactured in close association with Leica Camera AG. For the uninitiated, Leica Camera is the world leader in the manufacture of cameras and sports optics.

In tune with the current trends in the smartphone industry, the Huawei P9 has an all metal unibody construction. It surpasses almost every flagship with its slim and light. The device is quite compact with its design and comfortable to handle. The finger print scanner and the camera sit at the back.
The P9 comes with a 5.2 inch full HD resolution. The screen has Gorilla Glass protection for the display. Given the price, we would have expected a quad HD resolution, however, in terms of display quality does not disappoint you. The pixel density reads 423 ppi. The display is relatively bright and the blacks appear deep.
The display is capable of good color reproduction. However, there is something missing given the price. Color temperature can be adjusted as per your preferences through the settings provided.
For quite some time now, Huawei has been using its in house processors. The HiSilicon which is a subsidiary of Huawei supplies the SCCs for Huawei devices. Huawei P9 is powered by an high end Octa core Kirin 955 processor that clocks at 2.5 GHz. The onboard RAM of 3 GB coupled with an abundant 32 GB internal storage is best suited for the top notch performance. The storage capacity can further be expanded to another 128 GB.

The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. By now, we are well aware of the goodies available on the latest iteration of the Android ecosystem. The improved RAM manager, battery saving Doze feature and improved permissions. However, you may not be able to experience the real stock Android experience. The Huawei P9 comes with Emotions UI.
Camera is the best ever feature that makes the smartphone unique in itself. Built in association with Leica Camera AG, a German company involved in the high end cameras, the P9 features a 12 MP rear camera and a 8 MP front camera. It should be pointed out here that Leica has not built the camera modules themselves, but provided inputs in designing the camera. That is exactly why it is called Co-engineered with Leica. The unique concept used in the phone has two 12 MP sensors sitting side by side - one for RGB and the other for monochrome. The RGB sensor captures color from the screen and the monochrome sensor captures the light that is incoming into the camera. The software combines both the images and converts it into a single color image.
The camera, however, lacks Optical Image Stabilisation. The front camera has a resolution of 8 MP. The auto focus system on the device employs a hybrid system. It combines laser and phase detection auto focus to arrive at a better performance. There is support for RAW format as well.
The camera app does appear a little tough at first, but once you get used to it - you will get accustomed to it. The app is quite good and responsive. It actually works like a breeze. The images shot with the Huawei P9 come quite sharp and with a lot of detail. Even the low light photography is indeed great.
There is no support for 4K videos though. It could be a concern with the price being a little high, yet no 4K video recording capability.
The Huawei P9 is priced at Rs. 39999. The phone can be bought on Flipkart, the official online partner of Huawei. It is indeed good buy, though there are a few shortcomings.
