|Price: ||Rs 11999|
In an attempt to recapture the lost glory in the budget line of smartphones, Samsung has launched Galaxy J5 to compete with the likes of Moto G 3.
The design follows a regular Samsung pattern with the polycarbonate body. The edges are little curved. The look is quite refreshing. There is a matte finish on the rear side. A metal rim running across the frame is a good point from aesthetics point of view.
With the super AMOLED display that brings the real life like colors before you, the phone has a HD resolution. The full HD is in thing these days, yet considering the price point - it is not bad either.
The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quadcore processor. It carries a 2 GB RAm which should be enough for your multitasking needs. The processor is 64 bit compatible which translates into better RAM management. The Samsung Galaxy J5 has only 8 GB internal storage which is below par at current standards. You get just 4.5 GB user accessible memory. However, you have memory expansion options upto 128 GB.
The phone does perform quite lag free most of the time. Apps and games with heavy graphics stutter a bit.
The 13 MP rear camera provides some real nice images in bright light. However, there seems to be an issue with focussing. The flash is quite effective. The f/1.9 aperture lets you have well lit images. Both front and rear cameras are capable of HD video recording.
The Galaxy J5 runs on Android Lollipop with the usual customisation with TouchWiz. But the interface has been considerably toned down. There are not many bloatwares. There is a theme store now for setting up and downloading the themes of your choice. There is a new app named Smart Manager which aids you in taking care of your device. You can analyse and take corrective actions against the battery and RAM usage.
Packed with a battery of 2600 mAh capacity, the phone is capable of a backup of around 12 to 14 hours at a moderate usage.
The best part is the phone has 4G compatibility. You get 4G connectivity on both the SIMs.
Though it lacks a few premium features, it would not be a bad choice given the powerful brand name.
