Overview
Pantech, a Korea based company known for making budget smartphones has released another premium budget smartphone, Pantech Discover for AT&T. Following the release of Pantech Burst and the Pantech Flex, the company released Discover into the market. The device comes packed with some premium features for a budget phone. Let's have a look at the features of the device.

Design
Pantech Discover has a unique and slim design (9.1 mm) with large high definition display and curved edges. Its body is made of rubberized plastic which adds solidity and premium feel to the device. It has dual speakers (3D surround sound speakers), one placed on the top of the right and the other on the top of left side. Below the left side speaker grille, there is volume control button. The power on/off button and 3.5 mm audio jack port are placed on the top, while the bottom houses the Micro USB port. But there is no dedicated key for the camera. The device also comes equipped with front and rear end cameras. Excepting the Power and volume control buttons all the other buttons are placed on the display screen. The micro SIM card slot and SD card slot are placed ahead of the battery compartment. The dimensions of the device are 5.3" x 2.7" x 0.36" and it weighs about 135 g. It has a 4.8 inch LCD HD display and supports 16 Million colours. It has a TFT capacitive multi touch screen with screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels which gives it a pixel density of 306 ppi. The bigger HD display promises rich and sharp viewing experience. Processor, OS & Memory
Pantech Discover is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chipset and dual core krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. It is well supported by Adreno 225 GPU. Pantech Discover runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 version (upgradable to Jelly Bean 4.1 version). It comes with 1 GB RAM.
Pantech has added some tweaks to Discover which comes with a dual interface (Standard Interface and Easy Interface) and changed lock screen with 6 icons. The standard interface is similar to the normal smartphone UI while the Easy Interface is targeted at the first time smartphone users. The Easy interface provides the users with various essential features on the home screen and creates the ease of android interface. The lock screen also changes while switching the interface. It is great way for the beginners to get used to the smartphone interface.
Pantech Discover has an internal memory of 16 GB (not fully usable due to phone software). It has an expansion slot which supports micro SD card which can be expandable up to 32 GB for additional storage. Camera
Discover comes with 12.6 MP main camera for taking high quality photos and videos, and 2 MP front camera for video calling. The main camera supports up to 4x digital zoom and has LED flash. Discover enables you to take High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Panoramic images with multiple shutter modes.
It supports the users to shoot 1080p HD quality videos at 30fps. The camera comes with features like Geo-tagging and touch focus.GPS & Sensors

Pantech has taken a bigger step into the smartphone market by showing that a device with premium quality features can be made for a budget price. Discover brings lot of premium features to the table for a price lesser than some of the big smartphones. Its custom Easy UI can attract inexperienced users and its premium build has also its fair share of fans. It can appeal to lot of budget concerned users. It lacks in some areas but overall it makes a great budget smartphone.
