Hi,
Actually speaking there is a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) in computer terminology. MAN is a larger network than a LAN. It is in between Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN)
A Metropolitan Area Network means computers are connected in large network usually collection of Local Area Network (LAN) is a MAN and it will be under control of an organization and it is used by many users via internet. It is a private network connected by many LAN.
It can be a Large Campus, or schools or areas connected with network is called MAN.
If a network is connected between 2 LAN also called as MAN.

Hi,
In the MAN there will be computers that will be linked to whole city. MAN basically connects many LAN forming a group of network. This particular MAN will be implemented all over the city. This type of network connection is known as the MAN.

Normally a MAN interconnects a number of LANs by using a high capacity backbone technology, which is now a days a fiber optic technology. A MAN provides a link to wide area networks and the internet. So a metropolitan area network (MAN) is optimized over a wider area like blocks of several buildings or an entire city. Hope your doubt is cleared now.
