For home use you can afford Toshiba laptop and Lenovo too. These two are best among all branded laptops in market.
1.It is low cost comes in 26000/- to 30,000/-.
2.Stylish with light weight.
3.Repair centers are present in every small cities.
4.Best voted in top 20 banded laptop selling in Asia.

You can create a checklist depending on your requirements. Basic checklist can include
* Intel Processor - Check for the latest intel processor or atleast dual core processor with approx 2 GHz speed
* HD Capacity - Depending on your purpose, you can choose you RAM to be 1 GB t0 4 GB
* Looks, Battery, Weight (depends and optional) - these can be chosen based on your preference
* Good speakers and web cam - if you are buying a laptop for home mainly to watch movies and listen to songs, you would definitely prefer good speaker quality (web cam can be optional depending on your purpose)
* Free accessories or discounts - Nowadays, there are various free accessories available like optical mouse, tata photon+, bagpack. You can check on them
* Warranty
You can go around in different outlets with your checklist and check the laptop ranges available with your criteria. Once you have got a list of few laptops, you can choose the final one.

Hi,
The major disadvantage of the lap top is that you cannot go for upgrade for your lap top. So if you are going to buy for your home use you can very well go for the desktop which is cheap and even best. If you want to carry it to other places then you have no other option than buying a laptop.
Nowadays all the laptop that are emerging in the market is great. Moreover one more important thing is that you should go for the best configuration that is available in the market because that will only withstand for at least 2 years.
I don't have to tell anything about the configuration because the people above has given a good suggestion to you. There is even one more drawback in using lap tops. You cannot use it for many hours because it gets heated up so it is always better to go for desktop.

It depends on the purpose for which you want to use the laptop. If it is just for simple entertainment in home, then you can buy Toshiba or Lenova as suggested by Pamela which is cheaper cost.
