It is aimed at helping consumer organisations, National Consumer Helpline and Consumer Affairs department to understanding the concept of the safer interbet and passing on this knowledge to the general public.
Google will train around 500 strong workforce in digital security and privacy. These trainers will then engage in spreading this information to the local communities through special workshops conducted across the country.
There will be a few mobile applications for the general public. An application has been developed to let people register complaints regarding consumer issues. Another application has also been made available to let the consumers scan the bar codes to find information about the products.
In essence, the programme has been initiated to make consumers knowledgeable about their rights and stay safe from malpractices and duping.
