The reason has been made clear in the news articles that immediately followed the decision to withdraw the summer special plan. It was TRAI who forced Jio to withdraw the plan and the offer.
It is quite evident that the telecom regulator was under constant pressure from the telcos which included Idea cellular, AirTel and Vodafone which have been losing the customer base because of the aggressive pricing and offers provided by Reliance Jio. The move by TRAI is being seen as a relief to the industry as the aggressive pricing has been causing severe revenue loss for the government. However, the consumers will be disturbed with the withdrawal, though.
