The Flipkart Snapdeal merger is in the final stages. The combined entity will come into force by May end - most likely. The talks have effectively concluded and Snapdeal has agreed to all the terms. They only want the assurance that its 2500 strong workforce will stay even after the merger.
The major cause for the merger decision is the losses being made by Snapdeal and Flipkart over the past one year or so. The entry of Amazon India has been assumed to be the sole reason the losses being made by both the companies. Amazon definitely has a better business model compared to the Indian e-retail businesses. Unable to resist the issues, the two companies have decided to merge.
