Well, there are not many new developments or improvements observed as of now. Video call feature has long been made operational, So is the GIF creation.
One of the recent leaks have been suggesting that WhatsApp may soon introduce Two Step authentication. This is being done to allay the fears of privacy breaches and other security concerns. The feature is stated to be already rolled out for its mobile apps on Android, iOS and WindowsPhone. For using the feature, you will need to update your WhatsApp application. Then headover to Settings ->Account ->Two Step Verification.
You will need to link an email ID and set a six digit passcode. The Two Step verification feature has already being used by most of the tech giants like Twitter and Google. This will prevent access to your account, if someone tries to access your account by entering your phone number.

The two new features included in Whatsapp is like Hike messenger, Whatsapp planned to introduce GIF icon near emoticon icon. So whenever you feel share GIFs, the automated GIFs will be suggested inorder to share your thoughts via GIFs. This was a big deal for Whatsapp. Then another feature is at present you can share media files upto 10 in numbers. More than 10 files have been restricted. But according to new update, user can share upto 30 files at one time. So it could be useful to share more files once for long. These two features at present given update for some particular Android versions. The team is working with it. Soon for all other versions will get an update. Even iOS soon get this new update for their users.
