    Forced Windows 10 Upgrade

I noticed that from last week, most of the people with their Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 are upgrading. Most of these upgrades are starting in US as of now. I have found few clients of mine waking up with Windows 10 installed overnight. They said keeping computer on leads to background download of windows 10 upgrade files. And rebooting the system lead to windows 10 installation.

I am not sure if this is the case for Indian users. Considering we don't have faster upgrade servers in India. I am thinking that this change will be rolled out in india from august or so. In case of faster internet this change may go immediately live. But the case is not all PC will be upgraded. It'll take some time for the upgrade files to download.

I personally didn't noticed this as I have enabled on demand upgrade. And this prevents me from downloading any such files.

Have you noticed any such automatic free upgrades for your or friends PC?

Are upgrades happening for non licenced versions as well? I am on non genuine Windows 7 Ultimate.

I do not want to run into licensing issues.

Not for pirated or non-genuine version obviously. The updates are being sent by verifying the license or the OEM activation. The upgraded version doesn't ask for the activator once it gets on the desktop. So the upgrade is smooth and automated for the people who have genuine install. I don't think this will happen for pirated version.
