    Twitter's decision over the character limit- your views

    Twitter has been contemplating for a while now about doing away with the 140 character limit. The decision seems to have been deferred for the time being. However, the character limit for direct messages has been already done away with. That would not be an issue as the direct message would not affect all users except the actual recipients.
    Now the limit for links and photos has been done away with. This will not affect the real twitter experience.
    What would you think of the new development? Will Twitter continue with its plan of character limit increase as we discussed previously?

    It will be great if twitter removes this limit restriction.
    But It id just a rumors that Twitter is building a new feature that will allow users to tweet thoughts longer than the usual 140-character limit. Also, Twitter was considering expanding tweets to 10,000 characters (or about 2,000 words).
    It is also working out a plan for how to deal with potential spamming issues that might arise with an expanded character count.
    They are planning to talk with analytics and partners to prepare them to handle longer tweets.

    I am sorry, but it is not a welcome decision. Increasing the character limit will steal away the uniqueness that Twitter has to it. Now, increase in the character limit for the Direct Messages would be welcome as it would not affect the total user base.

    You said is correct that it is not targeted to increase users of twitter
    But I think is for existing users who can now post/share much information to their fans. it is for the celeb like Amitabh Bachchan who regularly connected with their fans.

    You are not getting my point. Increasing the character limit will cause Twitter will lose its unique character as it will become just another social network. Also, t will be a great point for the regular spammers.

    I understand the thing you want to tell Us,
    The 140 character policy of twitter might be loose on twitter, and it will turn into like other social media.
    but twitter is different from other social media targeted to some specific audience only. I mean everyone is not on twitter so famous and followers are on twitter for touch with each other.
    Think on the other side that twitter user can now share more information.
    I search on google for spamming related issue and I found The team of twitter is working on how to deal with spamming issues that might arise if character limit will increase.

    The most awesome stage. This 140 character limit what defines Twitter from the rest .Now photos, videos, GIFs, polls and quoting tweets will not count towards the 140-character limit.

    Twitter has its unique in the social media. The unique feature of twitter shows the tweets, replies, sharing thoughts and most famous hash-tag "#" emotions. This was the twitter and its most best. But removing its character limits will cause its uniqueness. I'm not a frequent user of twitter. But I love to use twitter. It helps to follow the most lovable celebrities and their present activities. The character limit of 140 was the best and quickest thoughts of every user. In that 140 characters, most feels to do with hash-tag representing their views. If this character limit goes off, then the quality and comfortness of twitter will be move away. It will look alike other social hubs. More number of spamming, long informations and more will decrease the quality and specialty of the twitter. At my point of view, this is not good move in twitter. Character restrictions only pay best sharing views of every member in twitter.
