    Brand name game

    Techians,
Let's keep aside work and have some fun! We will post a query or a few associated words and other members have to guess which brand is being referred to.

    Here's what you do:
In a response in this thread you ask a query and other members will try to answer. When the answer is acknowledged as correct, then the next query can be asked. Any member, including editors, can ask and answer. However, each member should not ask more than 5 queries in total. Also, if you have answered first, then you must not answer the next two consecutive queries. Only later, if the answer given is incorrect by more than one person, then you can answer those queries. That way, everyone will get to play.

    Let the game begin....
  • #22437
    Game on!

    First brand with associated words:
    Sound - Indian freedom fighter

    Regards,
    Vandana

  • #22438
    Bose
    Live....and Let Live!

  • #22439
Bose sound systems should be the correct answer. Clue refers to Subhaschandra Bose.
    Live....and Let Live!

  • #22440
Well, I'm feeling very happy to participate in this interesting game. This game is indeed very interesting. I hope to see more more queries in the list, so that we can run the horses of our mind to find the correct answer. However, for now the answer for this: "First brand with associated words:
Sound - Indian freedom fighter" is Subhaschandra Bose, who was a great Indian freedom fighter which is also lighted in the clew. I was able to find this as the word "Sound" in the clew refers to the popular music systems (speaker) of the company Bose. So with this I was able to guess that there is something related to the word Bose. Then as the clew tells us that the answer is related to a Indian freedom fighter, so I was able to find that the correct answer for this very interesting game is Subhaschandra Bose.

    Regards,
    Aman

I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.

  • #22441
I don't think associating Subhashchandra Bose is logical with the "Bose sound system" because that really is on the name of another individual Dr. Amar G. Bose, who has got nothing to do with Freedom Fighting.
In that case we can award or punish any other individual with the same surname, isn't it?

  • #22442
    Anwesha,
I guess Subhaschandra Bose is the right answer according to me. As the clew also tells that the answer is somewhat related to a Indian Freedom Fighter, so what could it be other than it? The most chances for the right answer for this clew is Subhaschandra Bose then.

    Regards,
    Aman

I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.

Well Timmappa, it was me who was discussing out things. If we don't go by logic, and don't explain things, can we reach any conclusion? It cannot be just saying a name and getting an "yes" or "no".
Any game like this cannot go ahead with just uttering a name. As it is based on clues, so it has to have a path to follow. If things are becoming difficult regarding allotting or gaining points and awards, then we can make this game "pointless" and "award free" . The Real fun of the game will take place only then.

  • #22459
Thanks a lot Anwesha for better explaining my words to Timmappa Kamat. I was also trying to say the same thing. But I guess he haven't understood and even now the editor has again reduced my points for no reason. I will more than happy to see this game thread giving no points to any member. But I would request to the editor to stop this activity.
    Regards,
    Aman

I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.

Members, is it really necessary to transform every forum thread into a free-for-all?! We can't even enjoy a fun activity without silly needless quarrels.

Aman, in #22440 you have given a needlessly long response. You simply have to give the brand name. [also, note the correct spelling of clue - it is not clew].

Timmappa: I feel you did not need to give a second response. You could have edited your first response itself instead of repeating the answer.

Anwesha: The name Bose may be associated with many persons, but when the clue is given as an Indian freedom fighter, obviously it is referring only to Subhas Chandra Bose.

Also, this is just a fun game activity with no reward points or cc. I just wanted to create some light fun for members!

    Regards,
    Vandana

    Next brand name:
Computers - company's head's surname; also rhymes with a famous nursery rhyme!

    Regards,
    Vandana

  • #22465
I guess that name is "Dell". This is because the name of the company head is Michael Dell. And nursery rhyme named "Farmer in the dell".

  • #22467
Absolutely right Mahesh! The nursery rhyme I had in mind was "Ding, dong, bell, pussy is in the well".

Next brand name query anybody? I would like to see other members too coming up with some creative associations.

    Regards,
    Vandana

  • #22469
Well, it must be damn easy - especially for the techians out here - however , let me come up with the question.
    Stitches and a famous singer.

    Live....and Let Live!

  • #22483
    Singer brand stitching machines...is it?

  • #22486
Anyone else coming up with the answers? Let us wait till we declare the correct answer.
    Live....and Let Live!

  • #22487
    Brand name - USHA.

USHA is the brand name for sewing machine. It was popular brand name in 90s.

I think the clue says "Stitching machine" and name of singer.

So it seems the name of that singer is "Usha uthup".

  • #22488
Exactly, Mahesh- you caught it right.

But, please note that you should not answer this question. Refer to the following lines from the thread starter -
Also, if you have answered first, then you must not answer the next two consecutive queries. Only later, if the answer given is incorrect by more than one person, then you can answer those queries.

No offence meant, though. The answer is right.

    Next:
Bikes. Clue: The first part of the name - we stare at it daily.

    Regards,
    Vandana

  • #22500
    Well, I know the answer.
But, since I have already answered the first and didn't answer the second while the third one was asked by me - am I allowed to answer this one?

    Live....and Let Live!

  • #22502
I think I will remove the restriction since anyway only few members are here. We will put it on first cum first serve basis now and let anybody answer as soon as the question is asked.
    Regards,
    Vandana

  • #22507
    Well, then - it's TVS.
We stare at TV daily, so that makes it correct answer.
By the way, my son helped me answering this one.

    Live....and Let Live!

  • #22511
It is a gadget manufacturer. The name of the company is formed by combining two different words. The first word is opposite to the second and vice versa. Guess the name!

  • #22513
I guess I know it. But i would wish to wait for other members to come up with their answers.
    Live....and Let Live!

  • #22514
Answer #22507 is correct. Can't for the life of me think of the brand of #22511!!
    Regards,
    Vandana

  • #22523
    Ans: Micromax

  • #22526
Amit, seems to be a right answer. Let us wait for the confirmation from Muddassir.
    Live....and Let Live!

  • #22605
As no one has attempted it, I am posting the answer:
It's 'Swift', and the singer is Taylor Swift.

'When you stop learning, you start dying' - Albert Einstein

  • #22606
    Sukanya,
Swift is the model of a car. The brand name is Maruti. That is why nobody was able to get the answer I think. I was trying to come up with the brand name!

    Regards,
    Vandana

  • #22619

And yes, the answer is Nokia as Vandana responded.
