I have never used pagers ever. By the time I began earning, the pagers had already gone into oblivion.Mobile phones had made their entry, but were beyond the reach of the middle class. I bought my first mobile phone in 2003 (the most primitive one compared to today's gizmos ), and as such there was no need at all to go for pagers.
However, I must they have always fascinated me though I have not used one.

I have also not used pagers ever as they have been replaced soon by mobile phones. It is so because mobile phones are much better than them and comes packed with many features. But as per the information given about the pagers on Internet, I wish I had used them. As you told in the message above that they lost their charm in the 90s and at that time I was not much aware regarding pagers.

Well, I was in college when the pagers came into existence. We used to get a glimpse of them in the movies of the time - especially Hollywood movies. I , for one was planning to get hands on one - but being a student and from middle class, I could not afford it at the time. By the time I got a job and began to earn for myself, pagers had long been replaced by mobile phones. So there was no way I could buy it.

Yeah! Timmappa Kamat, as you told that you were in college when the Pagers were in practice and you was unable to get your hands on them. The same is the case with me, when I got to know about Pagers, at that time they weren't in practice as smartphones were there which easily replaced them. I wish I could use them as they are just CLASSIC!

Well, that's because we have not seen them in reality. Had we seen them, we would not have been so enthusiastic. Yes, they were classic - but not useful compared to what mobile phones can do. ...But they were unique in those days of initial days of wireless communication.

Yeah, you are correct Timmapa, they weren't useful to us if they were their as now, smartphones and even mobile phones can do their functioning. However, I felt using them was another joy in a great way as they are very old.

That should be enough, Aman. The topic has gone old now. No need to keep harping on this topic anymore. You have been repeating the same thing over and again in post after post. Just stop that , please and concentrate on some good contribution. Don't bump into this thread unnecessarily.

I owned a pager. In fact, we won it as a prize in a slogan writing competition organized by a showroom in Connaught Place, Delhi. We'd bought material for my husband's winter uniform at this Raymond store and were asked to write a slogan. I don't recollect what we wrote; but we ended up winning a pager.
It was considered quite a natty device back then; but, was quite useless for us. No one we knew had a pager. So, it just sat collecting dust.
Pagers were designed more for companies and big industries so the staff could communicate. It had no real purpose in the daily lives of common people. No wonder it had such a short life span.

Juana,
Can you please tell me some more about Pagers? Like how was your experience for it? What was it? How was it useful? I am crazy to know about it and even it will increase my General Knowledge.

Aman,
No offence meant, but to me your "I am crazy to know about it..." statement does not come across as very convincing. If you sincerely feel the need to educate yourself about the gadget, all you need to do is Google 'pagers' and you will find a plethora of information, to pore over.
Also, my post above is quite clear about my experience with the pager. You just need to read through it to notice that I have said all there was to say about my experience with the gadget - in simple, brief and self explanatory terms.
Moreover my view on the device is inconsequential because it could be biased.

I agree totally with what Juana said above. We can clearly make out the meaning of these unnecessary posts here. The responses have practically no logic. It is being done just to increase points as it is nearing the end of the month. No special knowledge is required to decipher what is on the mind of the member. Even after pointing out his mistakes several times , the concerned member does not seem take lessons.
Juana's response was almost at the beginning of the month and there was no one to respond to till now and the topic - in fact - had gone obsolete. Digging it up now at the end of the month has only one point of interest and nothing at all. Hope the member learns it at least now.
