I'm not suggesting SEO, even though you can do that as well. I'm talking about paid promotion which includes advertising.

Use forums like warrior forum, digital point and black hat world to promote your software.
Ask major blogger to review your software. Give them a backlink and promotional copy of your soft in return of a review.
