    i think the "meta tags " like "keywords" to define the most used phrases, "Revisit-After" to tell the search engine what is frequency of change in content ,"robot" to allow or disallow indexing are used in basic level search,
    search engines using advanced algorithms reads the whole website, to give results.

    so a design with no broken links works amazingly in SEO.

    But there are some more reasons that makes your website in the top results along with adding "robots.txt", "sitemap.xml" etc. The way you organize the folders in your website also helps serach engine to crawl your website easily.Providing additional information about the website with 'Structured data' helps Google Understand the meaning of content present in your website.
