Of course, I will go for good repair shop which has good reputations in my area. And if the problems are small and can be repaired by myself whether it is software or hardware I would do myself. I have a Personal Computer which is almost 4 years old now. I don't faced any serious problems till date. The only problem I got before is that it hangs and taking too much time to run applications. So, I did a re-installation of Operating System. Otherwise it is fine. And If any hardware part will damage, it is also available in the market and it can be easily fixed by ourself. But, when it comes to motherboard you must be careful and go for other shopes which have good reputation.

I will go to shop only if my computer doesn't starts and I don't know the reason. Once it happened when my SMPS failed. Second time I diagnosed the problem and replaced the SMPS myself.
I almost changed all hardware in my computer except CPU (motherboard). Once I was need to run a software which needed 1 GB RAM and so upgraded it myself. My hard disk failed and I changed it myself.
I called tech support in my area when my DVD drive didn't detect my CD. I was not able to understand the CD drive bus connection to motherboard. Because when I bought second DVD drive I need to connect both the drives. So if one works other didn't get the power. I was not able to figure out the solution. My tech support fixed it for me.

I prefer to check the solution online and I try to identify the problem persisting in computer then I call to the local repair shop person yo have an estimate of the cost that will be incurred while getting it repaired.
Many time I had got the solution online or by calling repair shop person and had repaired my computer myself.
