DVD-RW drive problem in windows 8

After installing Windows 8 consumer preview in my system I found that my DVD -RW drive is not detected by the operating system where as in BIOS It was detected. Earlier It was also detected by windows7. I tried a lot to fix this. First I thought it might be som e driver issue. But after a lot of try I was unable to find any proper solution.

At last I found the solution coincidentally.I just changed the SATA cable of the drive with my HDD sata cable and booted. DVD drive was detected.

I dont know anybody else is facing the same problem or not.

In my personal computer sometimes the dvd drive is not shown in the my computer. It only appears after restarting the computer several times. I don't know what is the problem.

Fayaz your system may be old one try changing the random acess memory and change the mother board it will solve your problem.

Hi Padhy,
Your Thread was very good one. Even i feel some time my DVD drive will be hidden and wont show. I just restart my system and then will check for the drive. I will find lately. I thought it was system problem but most of them facing this kind of problem in their system and they will think that it is not a big issue for them.
