  • What is the best option while buying a car, CNG, Petrol, Diesel or EV?

Electric, Petrol, CNG or Diesel? Which type of car should you go for considering the increasing prices of fossil fuels and the increased push for EVs? Know the opinion of our experts.

Currently Indian automobile market gives you an option to choose a fuel which powers the automobile like petrol, diesel, CNG, or electric powered. As we all know, prices of petrol, diesel, and CNG are almost in the same range of around 80 to 110. Currently, the government encourages people to buy electric vehicles by giving subsidies. How do we make a selection of car for personal use while having all these options?

It is indeed a confusing segment since there are ample options to choose from. However, the best option for you will only depend on your individual needs and circumstances. Here are some factors to consider when deciding between different types of fuel:

    1. Cost: The cost of fuel can vary significantly, so it's important to consider which type will be most economical for you in the long run.

    2. Range: Electric vehicles (EVs) have limited range compared to vehicles with internal combustion engines, so they may not be practical for long distance travel.

    3. Refuelling: CNG (compressed natural gas) and petrol vehicles need to be refuelled at a petrol station, while diesel vehicles require diesel fuel. EVs need to be charged, which may require access to a charging station or the installation of a charging point at home.

    4. Emissions: CNG, petrol, and diesel vehicles all produce greenhouse gases when they are burned, while EVs produce zero emissions at the point of use. If you are concerned about the environment, an EV may be a more appealing option.

    5. Performance: Different types of fuel can affect a vehicle's performance in different ways. For example, diesel engines tend to be more efficient and have better torque than petrol engines, which may be appealing for drivers who need a vehicle with good towing capacity or acceleration.

Ultimately, the best option for you will depend on your specific needs and circumstances. It may be helpful to consider factors such as your budget, driving habits, and any local incentives or regulations related to fuel efficiency.

Right now we are going through a transition from conventional petrol/diesel to electric one. So electric vehicles are in the beginning of their journey.
Today there is issue of battery replacement after a short distance but once there are sufficient battery replacement or charging centers then it would be convenient to drive EVs on a long route.
Seeing the depletion of conventional vehicle fuel sources, I would strongly advise to go for an electric vehicle. It is a smoke free and pollution free way and that is why many Govt worldwide are going for this mode.
Initial bottlenecks would always be there but soon every vehicle plying on the roads will be an EV.

    Knowledge is power.
