Which to buy --- motor cycle or scooty

Looking for a bike or scooty with great mileage? See which vehicle our experts suggest.

I want to purchase a two wheeler. I am confused whether to buy a Scooty or a bike. My requirement- a good mileage with less service and maintenance. I had to drive 35 kms daily. Please suggest the make and model of the two wheeler. It's urgent.

  • My suggestion is to buy a Bike as it has better mileage compared to scooty. The bikes are less maintenance as well while comparing.

The below-mentioned brands and bikes have better mileage. So, you can try all or one of them as test to select it.

    Bajaj Platina 2019
    Bajaj CT 100 2019
    TVS Sport 100 cc
    Hero Deluxe
    TVS Star
    Honda Cliq 109cc
    Hero Glamour

  • If the road from your house to the workplace is good, then scooty will be a good option. Scooty is easy to handle as it's weight is less.

A motorcycle is suitable for bad countryside roads and it is mainly for the people who like adventurous driving.

The new models of scooty as well as motorcycle both are fuel efficient. Some scooty manufacturers are claiming fuel mileage even above 100 km also.

Scooty has an advantage of leg space and are safer than motorcycles. One can carry family members especially ladies comfortably on a scooty.

So both of them are having their pros and cons and depending on that one can take a decision.

    Knowledge is power.

  • The bike type vehicles are

    1. TVS Apache RTR 160 that cost about Rs 78,338 ex-showroom price, gives around 45 km/L and on highways, it is around 55 km/L. The reserve fuel capacity is about 2.5 litres that can go around 105-110 km.

    2. Bajaj Pulsar 150 that cost about Rs 64,998, gives around 47.5 km/L inside the city and 52-55 km/L in the highways. The reserve fuel capacity is about 3.2 litres.

    3. Yamaha FZ S FI (V 2.0) cost about 84,042 -87,042, gives around 53 km/L. The reserve fuel capacity is 1.5 litres.

    4. KTM 200 Duke that cost about 1.51 Lakh, gives around 35 km/L. The reserve fuel capacity is about 2.5 litres.

    5. Hero Splendor plus that would cost about 48,000, The 2016 model gives around 80.6 km/L. The reserve fuel capacity is about 1 litre.

    6. Honda CB Shine cost Rs 57,683, gives around 60 -65 km/L. The reserve fuel capacity is about 1.3 litres.

    The Scooter type vehicles are
    1. TVS Scooty zest 110 Rs 48,986 that is the ex-showroom price, gives around the 62 km/L
    2. TVS Suzuki Access 125 is Rs 49,237 that is the price of Ex-showroom price, gives around 63 km/L
    3. Honda Cliq Rs 44,664 that is the price of the Ex-showroom price, gives around 60 km/L
    4. Honda Activa Rs 44,664 that is the price of the Ex-showroom price, gives around 60 km/L

A bike is better than a scooty in driving when compared to the mileage of scooter type vehicles for a long drive. The wheels are big and the tiredness is less when compared to the scooter type vehicle.
