  • Can Windows 7 be freely upgraded to Windows 10?

If you have a question in mind like, can Windows 7 be freely upgraded to Windows 10? Our technical experts are here to provide you with the right answers.

After the introduction of Windows 10, Microsoft announced that it will not give support for versions earlier of Windows 8. If I remember correctly, the version 8 and 8.1 were upgraded by Microsoft after the inception of windows 10. Can someone tell the development after that?
Is there any method that any one is familiar with about how to upgrade Windows 7 through third party sites?

  • Yeah you had heard right that Microsoft has ceased it's support for windows 8. If you have windows 8 then you have to upgrade to either windows 8.1 or windows 10 so as to get updates from Microsoft. If you wish that you should not get updates from windows then you can continue using the same windows.

If you wish to update your windows from 8 to 8.1 then you can go through the following steps:-
    1. Go the the start menu.

    2. Click on Microsoft store and then you'll get there option to update to windows 8.1 for free.

    3. After that the PC will download the update and ask you to restart the computer.

    4. Just do the required setup and enjoy.

  • Microsoft released the upgrade and migration offer in July 2016 and it lasted till December 2016. Lot of machines were either automatically upgraded or they were prompted to upgrade during boot or on taskbar. This offer was limited to the Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users who had genuine license. However there are some Volume license machines which may end up support this year would be getting the upgrade.

You may get Windows 7 upgrade in following scenarios.

    1. You have licensed version of Volume license or Business edition of earlier Windows version.
    2. Your machine was not automatically upgraded in previous roll-out.
    3. Your license support is due expiry but you have support purchased which entitles you for upgrade.
    4. Windows 7 genuine license manager is prompting for the upgrade in the task-bar.

In any other scenario than the above mentioned, you won't be able to get the Windows 7 upgrade. If you have pirated edition of Windows 7 don't expect any form of upgrade notice or message to flash on machine.

Once upgraded to Windows 10 under genuine license, any upgrade for the Windows 10 will be automatically rolled out from here onward. So you don't have to do anything from now on.

  • Everyone who knows computer should know that the offer to free upgrade for Windows 10 ended on July 29, 2016. However, while you can no longer use the Get windows 10 tool to upgrade from Windows 7, there still another way to upgrade your computers and that is by downloading Windows 10 installation media from Microsoft and by providing your authentic or genuine product key of Windows 7. This way you can upgrade from Windows 7 , 8, or 8.1 to Windows 10.
