  • Variation in internet speed in Reliance Jio 4G.

Are you troubled with the variations in the internet speed in your Reliance Jio 4G? Ask our technical experts for the best solutions to the problem.

I am staying in Navi Mumbai. As per Reliance Jio 4G offer I have purchased a 3 months data for my mobile. I get 1GB data daily at a high speed and after that at a reduced rate of 128 KBPS.

Now during the high speed or lower speed, one peculiar thing is happening. The speed is varying between few KBPS to 10-15 MBPS and many times the pages are taking a long time to open. But on average the performance is OK.

What could be the reason for this speed variation? Other Reliance Jio users are also experiencing the same phenomenon.

  • The real truth behind this is that, not all the telecom companies such as Airtel, Idea, Vodafone have migrated to 3G services let alone 4G across towers in India. In case of Reliance JIO, the network started with the CDMA 4G services itself. So when they are using the towers of other companies for cross connections and for making use of the fair use for their towers, they have to make use of the switches that are from towers which are under 2G and some being in 3G. So if the Reliance Jio connection is not in vicinity of the their own network, they make use of say Vodafone or other network tower. And their data speed is reduced on 2G OR 3G depending on whichever network is being shared.

This phenomenon is pretty much common across India. The reason for this is that in India most of the telecom towers were on 2G and Edge technology in 2007mid quarters and very few of them are moved to 3G. The telecom companies continued to charge people for 3G and data despite being on 2G towers. Now that the telecom sector is jumping into CDMA VoLTE into 4G and 5G pretty quickly, all the Telecom companies are awaiting to switch. So you are likely to experience this slow speed on other towers unless those towers are owned by JIO or if the telecom is not yet moved to the 4G network.

You will be able to see an increase in the speed as each tower around gets upgraded which may take years depending on their maintenance and the demand for the 4G signal from that particular area.

  • As per my personal experience with Jio, I have found that there are various factors which cause variation in the speed of internet. The internet speed mainly depend upon the availability of signal, density of users and the task that you are performing on your device. I have noticed that during downloading of any file the internet speed increases by more than 10 times but you can experience slow internet during browsing sessions. Although company claims speed capping post 1 GB but you may experience speed capping even after using only 700-900 MB.
As you are telling that sometime it takes a lot of time to load any webpage then the delay in webpage can be because of above stated reason however its not always the case. Sometimes severs are also responsible for slow loading of webpages.
    Hope this will help you.
