  • Moto Z2 Play was launched on June 8 in 2017. Here are the features that should give you a brief idea about the functionality of the smartphone.

    Design and Display
The design language remains similar to what was observed in the previous devices in the Z series. It is quite comfortable to handle, thanks to its ergonomic design and the lighter weight at 145 grams. The sides have a metallic finish. The 5.5 inch display is protected with a Gorilla Glass protection. The sides are curved on all four edges which should give you a finished look and feel. The rear has an all metal design. Overall, the build quality is one of the top notch.
The 5.5 inch display offers you full HD resolution at 1920 x 1080 pixels. The super AMOLED screen will provide a 401 ppi. Though one would want a qHD panel, the display quality is not far from being perfect. The display is sharp enough and the AMOLED quality speaks for itself. You can get rich and vivid colors. If you think the colors are a little over saturated, you can go for the Standard setting. Moto Display is one of the features that would make the screen fade in and fade out in cases where the date and time appears or you get a few notifications.

Moto Z2 Play is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor. The clock speed of this able octacore processor reads 2.2 GHz. The internal storage capacity of the device comes at 64 GB. Ably supported by a 4 GB RAM, you should be able to get a smoother performance. You can expand the memory further by another 256 GB.

The Moto Z2 Play runs on Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box. As has been the case with a Motorola device, you will get an almost pure stock Android experience. You have a Moto Z launcher. It represents the default Google Pixel Launcher in most respects with a few changes thrown in here and there. There are not many pre-installed apps. However, you have a few Moto apps that help you make use of a few Moto services that have been added by Motorola into the Android Nougat. Moto Voices, Moto Action and Moto Display are some of the features that would serve some additional and useful purposes.

The rear camera on the Moto Z2 has a resolution of 12 MP. The f/1.7 aperture lets the perfect amount of light into the sensor. The camera comes with both phase detection and laser autofocus. The images do appear quite excellent. The photos look pretty good and there is not much post processing involved. However, the low light performance is a bit low in quality. The selfie fans have a 5 MP camera on the front. There is a two tone dual flash for the front camera. The phone can take 4K videos at 30 fps.

    Battery and other features
The phone has a battery capacity of 3000 mAh. It should be able to provide you a day's backup quite easily. The Snapdragon 626 processor should provide you an energy efficient performance. The battery supports fast charging as well. The Moto Z2 does come with a finger print sensor. It does have a 360 degree finger print performance.

The phone comes with a price tag of Rs. 27999. It does appear to be a little more expensive than the competitors. The modular design offers much of a value for money though. Maybe that is something that would justify the price.
