Samsung Galaxy S8 release date and price

There are many rumours doing the rounds as the day for the launch of Galaxy S8 draws closer. There have been several leaks claiming to have a peak into what is coming up with the latest flagship from Samsung.

Design
Galaxy S8 is expected to carry forward the design elements from the Galaxy S7. There will be some refinements though minor in nature. The metal and glass moulding has been immensely popular and I do not expect any changes in the broader sense. We may look forward to a slightly more curved design.

Display
A 4K resolution has been on the expected lines. The phone may be launched in 5.1 and 5.7 inch sizes. There will be a Always On Display (AOD) feature. It was first observed on the ill fated Galaxy Note 7.

Camera
Samsung has been striving to make its camera all powerful. There are leaks suggesting a dual lens camera arrangement. The resolution is expected to be somewhere between 18 MP and 24 MP. It is likely to come with a wider f/1.4 aperture to make more light pass through it making it a good choice low light photography. The front camera resolution will be upped to 8 MP as compared to the 5 MP on S7. There is also a likelihood of Smart Glow feature which is supposed to improve your selfies.

Battery
The battery is said to be huge. Some reports suggest a 4200 mAh battery capacity. It will support both wireless and fast charging.

Hardware and software
The Galaxy S8 may ship with a 3GHz Exynos 8895 - the in house processor from Samsung. A 3.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 830 may be equipped on the variants on sale in the US. It will have at least 6 GB of RAM. We may also expect the RAM to be as high as 8 GB as the processor is capable of supporting it. The phone will - no doubt - ship with Android Nougat 7.1. The customization by Touchwiz is expected to be leaner. Samsung is also likely bring Bixby Artificial Intelligence on the new flagship.

Other features
It will come with a mini projector, an iris scanner and Smart Glow feature. Galaxy S8 will support USB Type C. The internal storage will be at least 64 GB with expandable options up to 128 GB.

Price
This is a point that may need to be taken with a pinch of salt. It will definitely be expensive than the Galaxy S7. I would go with a price tag of around Rs. 50000 to 54000.

The device has Octa core Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 processor. As far as GPU is concerned, it has Adreno 540. It is dual SIM device in promotion but there is also single SIM device in release. It comes in two different storage models such as 64GB and 128 GB. The RAM for the device is set to 4GB.

Display

The device has the Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. It has 5.8 inches touchscreen with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Samsung has as usually supported this device display with TouchWiz UI and the 3D touch display support.

Camera

The camera of the device is really good withe the following specs - f/1.7, 26mm and phase detection. It has 12MP lens for the primary camera and 9MP for the secondary camera.

Connectivity

The device has USB v3 and type C connector. So it's OTG reversible compatible. It has NFC support along with the GPS and bluetooth. You'd find Wifi Direct and A2DP support as well.

Battery

The phone has the non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery. And the performance of the battery as per the test is good without data connection. The uptime as per the tests is upto 27 hours.

Android Version

The device is shipping with the Android 7. So those who want to get a nougat device in the Galaxy S series, this is the device to go for. It is likely to receive the security update for existing patched version soon.

Generally speaking, the Galaxy S8 model from Samsung is said to be released on the stipulated Date June 5, 2017, but the news is still unofficial.

The Operating System for this model is Android v7.0 (Nougat). It is a Single SIM, GSM
Network device, enabling both 4G and 3G network. The phone is known to have Quick Charging feature.
